Ooops forgot to post that Mister Horse was 2nd (meaning his best race evah! Welcome back!).

SUPER PISTACHIO (L099) CALIFORNIA MEMORY (L135) JAMESINA (H290) CARTHAGE (L256) * * * "VILASOL" INQUIRY 22/02/2011 The Stewards today concluded their inquiry into M Chadwick’s handling of VILASOL in the Sha Tin Handicap which was run at Happy Valley Racecourse on Wednesday, 16 February 2011. Further evidence was today taken from M Chadwick, the rider of VILASOL, and from Mr B K Ng, the trainer of the horse. Evidence was also taken from Mr Joseph Choi Yip Leung and Mr John Lai Ni Nhang, members of the 08/09 Peter Ng Trainer Syndicate, the syndicate which races VILASOL. Mr Ng advised the Stewards that when entries for this race were taken on Thursday, 10 February 2011, he contacted Jockey Chadwick and stressed to him the requirement that irrespective of which barrier the horse subsequently drew, he must endeavour to obtain cover on the horse as, in Mr Ng’s opinion, VILASOL races best when ridden in this manner. Mr Ng stated that he reiterated the necessity to obtain cover on VILASOL to Jockey Chadwick in the Parade Ring prior to the running of the stated race. Both Mr Choi and Mr Lai provided evidence that Jockey Chadwick had been told by Mr Ng of the requirement to obtain cover on VILASOL. M Chadwick was found guilty of a breach of Hong Kong Jockey Club Rule of Racing 99 (2) and (5) in that as the rider of VILASOL in the stated race, he did not take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure VILASOL was given a full opportunity to win or to obtain the best possible placing in the field. The charge against M Chadwick was particularised as:- That from soon after the start until near the 1500 Metres, he did fail to make any reasonable attempt to ride VILASOL in accordance with the explicit riding instructions given to him to obtain cover, when during the relevant section of the race it was both reasonable and permissible for him to have done so. That by failing to avail himself of the opportunity to obtain cover on VILASOL from soon after the start until near the 1500 Metres in accordance with his explicit instructions, VILASOL was required to race wide and without cover until near the 1000 Metres. That after obtaining a position one horse off the rail with the lead outside ANTIPASTO near the 1000 Metres, he failed to steady VILASOL and obtain a more advantageous position outside and slightly behind ANTIPASTO when it was both reasonable and permissible for him to have done so, given the fast sectionals run by VILASOL to that point when having to race wide and without cover. Rather he made further use of VILASOL to continue forward to eventually cross ANTIPASTO into the outright lead near the 600 Metres, thereby failing to avail VILASOL of the opportunity of more favourable sectionals. Jockey Chadwick’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to expire on Monday, 4 April 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (9 Hong Kong racedays ). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting to be conducted on Wednesday, 2 March 2011. Mr Ng, Mr Choi and Mr Lai were advised that their evidence had been accepted. * * * Happy retirement, Couldn't Care Less. http://www.derbytrail.com/forums/sho...358#post755358 * * * Green Birdie pointed to the Takamatsunomiya Kinen (!). * * * Update..... "We found a piece of bone had come away near the suspensory on Collection's right foreleg and he just needed some time, but he will be back training on the small track this weekend and aimed at the QE II Cup." "Able One's hip injury has healed, too, and he will join Collection back at the track this weekend with the Champions Mile his goal. The good news is they will get over the injuries they had." - John Moore |

Murtagh permitted to ride in Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup
24/02/2011 Permission has been granted for Jockey John Murtagh to ride GOOD BA BA, trained by Michael C W Chang, in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup (HK Group 1) scheduled to be conducted at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday, 6 March 2011. Jockey Murtagh is permitted to ride in this race in accordance with the criteria previously approved by the Racing Committee in respect of the approval for overseas jockeys to ride in principal races in Hong Kong. As a Visiting Jockey, John Murtagh will be permitted to accept race riding engagements in all races run at the aforementioned race meeting. Jockey Murtagh has advised his minimum riding weight as 124 lbs. I"m sorry but really? I wish Whyte or Soumillon had the mount. God or Eric Saint-Martin who I still miss so much! I think this might be the owner calling the shorts. Poor horse went from Wong to Schultz to Cruz to Chang... I wish they'd give him back to Schultz. |

IRIAN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. On arrival at the barriers, IRIAN right front plate was re-examined and found to be correctly fitted. CARTHAGE and MR MEDICI were slow to begin. From a wide barrier, KING DANCER was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 1800 Metres, SPECIAL DAYS commenced to travel keenly when left racing wide and without cover. For this reason, SPECIAL DAYS was allowed to stride forward into the lead. MR MEDICI was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. Near the 300 Metres, PACKING WINNER was checked when disappointed for running inside SPECIAL DAYS. Passing the 200 Metres, the whip carried by Apprentice K C Leung (CARTHAGE) was knocked from his hand by the whip of Z Purton (SIGHT WINNER). Near the 100 Metres, W C Marwing left foot slipped out of the stirrup iron, resulting in him becoming momentarily unbalanced in the saddle. W C Marwing did not regain the use of this stirrup iron for the remainder of the event. When questioned regarding the performance of IRIAN, D Beadman stated that on the way to the Start and behind the barriers IRIAN became stirred up. He said the horse travelled satisfactorily during the early and middle stages and rounding the Home Turn he shifted IRIAN to the outside of VIVA PATACA into clear running. He said in the early part of the Straight IRIAN responded satisfactorily to his riding to improve its position to be racing on level terms with VIVA PATACA, however, over the final 150 Metres IRIAN was disappointing in that it failed to respond to his riding and finished off the race only fairly. He added that after the race he noted IRIAN had lost its right front plate. A veterinary inspection of IRIAN after the race did not show any significant findings other than the Veterinary Officer had confirmed that the horse had lost its right front plate. A veterinary inspection of VIVA PATACA after the race revealed that horse to have a bleeding medial quarter crack to the right fore extending through to the coronary band. Before being allowed to race again, VIVA PATACA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SUPER SATIN after the race did not show any significant findings. IRIAN, CALIFORNIA MEMORY and KING DANCER were sent for sampling. http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...eno=7&venue=ST |

I haven't watched either yet but a shame for MM.
Here's to next time I guess. Maybe he's not happy there. * * * OKay I just watched the big race... Nice to see that Beauty Flash killed them before he leaves for Dubai but it's just a little sad to witness the changing of the guard... watching the old guys give up their thrones. I wish Good Ba Ba were given back to his real trainer and to jockeys who know him instead of what the owner is doing... going all over the place. I just watched it again and not to be Miss Critical here but did you see how wide Murtagh had him in the turn? I'm surprised Doleuze didn't smack him after the race . Nice riding by him... that was an awfully nice run for Sunny King. Some of these horses are so good... Let Me Fight, Lucky Nine, Brave Kid (and of course the old champions) so yeah that was really a fantastic win and I'm thrilled he's going to Dubai. He'll show them! |

Sample Irregularity – Jockey O Doleuze It was previously announced that the urine sample supplied by Jockey O Doleuze at the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 9 March 2011 had shown the presence of acetazolamide. It was also announced that having regard to the nature of the substance involved and the circumstances of the case, the Stewards decided not to stand O Doleuze down from his race riding engagements for the Happy Valley racemeeting scheduled to be conducted tonight pending the results of a urine sample which was supplied by Jockey Doleuze late yesterday evening. The Club's Head of Racing Laboratory, Dr T S M Wan, has today advised the Stewards that the urine sample supplied by Jockey Doleuze on Tuesday, 15 March 2011 was found to be negative for prohibited substances. Accordingly, the Stewards have approved for Jockey Doleuze to fulfil his declared race riding engagements at tonight’s racemeeting. An inquiry into the analyst’s finding relative to the urine sample supplied by Jockey Doleuze on 9 March 2011 is adjourned until a date to be fixed. * * * Permission has been granted for the following jockeys to be absent from Hong Kong in order to partner the relevant horses listed below at the Dubai World Cup race meeting scheduled to be conducted at Meydan Racecourse, Dubai on Saturday, 26 March 2011: Jockey Horse Date to depart HK Date to return to HK Darren Beadman DIM SUM 23 March 2011 27 March 2011 Gerald Mosse BEAUTY FLASH 24 March 2011 27 March 2011 Olivier Doleuze DYNAMIC BLITZ 24 March 2011 28 March 2011 Jockey Beadman will depart Hong Kong on Wednesday, 23 March 2011 in order to ride DIM SUM in its final gallop. As a consequence, he will not accept race riding engagements for the Sha Tin race meeting scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, 23 March 2011. Due to their return flight schedules, Jockeys Beadman and Mosse will not be able to accept race riding engagements for the first 3 races of the Sha Tin race meeting on Sunday, 27 March 2011 but will be eligible to ride in all remaining races on that programme. On 27 March 2011, Jockey Doleuze will commence periods of suspension incurred for careless riding offences at the Happy Valley race meeting on 9 March and the Sha Tin race meeting on 12 March 2011. He is currently eligible to resume riding in races on 10 April 2011. It has previously been announced that Club Jockeys Brett Prebble and Zac Purton would be absent from the Sha Tin race meeting on 27 March 2011 in order to ride GREEN BIRDIE and JOY AND FUN respectively in Takamatsunomiya Kinen (G1) in Japan on that day. As the connections of GREEN BIRDIE and JOY AND FUN have subsequently advised that they do not intend to contest the abovementioned race, Jockeys Prebble and Purton will now be available to accept race riding engagements for the stated Sha Tin race meeting. Jockey Piere Strydom has advised Management that he has been informed by the connections of J J THE JET PLANE that he will not be required to ride that horse in the Al Quoz Sprint (G2) at the Dubai World Cup race meeting on 26 March 2011. As a consequence, Jockey Strydom will also be available to accept race riding engagements in all races at the Sha Tin race meeting on Sunday, 27 March 2011. It has also been previously announced that due to the expected shortage of riders for the Sha Tin race meeting on Sunday, 27 March 2011, leading New Zealand Jockey James McDonald would be available to accept race riding engagements to assist connections in their choice of jockey. As Jockeys Prebble, Purton and Strydom have now become available to accept race riding engagements for the Sha Tin race meeting in question, it has been decided that it will not be necessary for Jockey McDonald to travel to Hong Kong and ride at the said meeting. Jockey McDonald has been made aware of the change of circumstances and fully understands the Club’s reasons for no longer requiring his services for this race meeting. * * * (From this am but...) The Stewards were this morning advised that Stable Jockey D Beadman had been dislodged from MASTER GUNNER after that horse galloped on the course proper during track work this morning. As D Beadman is indisposed the Stewards have approved the following riding replacements for this evening’s Happy Valley race meeting:- Race 4: EMPIRE CITY – C W Wong Race 5: EN MASSE – H W Lai Race 7: SUPER BRAND – G Cheyne Race 8: CHEVALIER KING – P Strydom Prior to being permitted to resume race riding, Jockey Beadman will be required to be cleared by the Club’s medical practitioner. A further release will be issued at the appropriate time. At this time, it is not the intention of the Stewards to order standby riders to be declared for Jockey Beadman’s intended race riding engagements for the Sha Tin race meeting scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, 20 March 2011. |

FREE JUDGEMENT began awkwardly and in the early stages got its head up on a number of occasions. Passing the 1000 Metres, MILITARY MOVE proved very difficult to settle and near the 900 Metres shifted out away from the heels of TREASURE LANDS when awkwardly placed behind that horse. After this, MILITARY MOVE continued to prove difficult to settle. VICTOR DELIGHT was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. B Doyle (LET ME HANDLE IT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that rounding the Home Turn he directed his mount out when not clear of FAT CHOY OOHLALA, resulting in those horses making contact and FAT CHOY OOHLALA being badly hampered and taken out across the rightful running of FREE JUDGEMENT which in turn was also badly hampered and taken wider. B Doyle was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 10 April 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 3 April 2011. In addition, B Doyle was fined $50,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. H W Lai (OUTDOOR PEGASUS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out, resulting in JACOBEE being severely checked and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled when taken out onto the hindquarters of LET ME HANDLE IT which also became unbalanced. H W Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 14 April 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 6 April 2011. In addition, H W Lai was fined $70,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. Throughout the race, LITTLE BRIDGE travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Before being permitted to race again, both LITTLE BRIDGE and TREASURE LANDS, which finished tailed out, will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE BRIDGE and FREE JUDGEMENT after the race did not show any significant findings AMBITIOUS DRAGON and XTENSION were sent for sampling. * * * Race 2 sounds like a nightmare... After being loaded, DIVIDEND CHAMPION became fractious and got out under the front gates. When this occurred, the saddle fitted to DIVIDEND CHAMPION was dislodged. As DIVIDEND CHAMPION was breaking out under the front gates, FIRST CLASS became fractious in the barriers, reared and got down. When FIRST CLASS got down, it kicked out on a number of occasions and in doing so kicked MING HOI GLORY which was boxed in the barrier stall immediately to the inside of FIRST CLASS. When kicked by FIRST CLASS, MING HOI GLORY also became fractious and got its left hind leg on the barrier platform. DIVIDEND CHAMPION was returned to the Start and FIRST CLASS and MING HOI GLORY were removed from the barriers. All three horses were examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that each horse was not suitable to race. Accordingly, DIVIDEND CHAMPION, FIRST CLASS and MING HOI GLORY were withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, DIVIDEND CHAMPION and FIRST CLASS will both be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Before being allowed to race again, MING HOI GLORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. In this incident, D Beadman, the rider of MING HOI GLORY, injured his right leg and was stood down from riding by the Club medical officers. The Stewards ruled that all horses be removed from the barriers and the start of this race was delayed. When being initially loaded into the barriers, SOMETHING SPECIAL momentarily made contact with the starting stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed fit to race. When being reloaded, SOMETHING SPECIAL proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, SOMETHING SPECIAL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. |

I think Be Grateful died on the track yesterday but with wording not entirely sure.
Big big news... Cape Blanco is out (The Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup) AOB decided not to make the trip. Who knows. This leaves Victoire Pisa, Gitano Hernando, River Jetez and Wigmore Hall as the international runners (Red Jazz has a quarter crack and is out of the CHampions MIle - Mufarrh and Melito out...) ands opens the door for Good Ba Ba and Let Me Fight and Sparkling Power (Macau). Presvis, Musir and Royal Bench are the intl runners for the Champions Mile. Retired... Congrats to Ms. Sweet Sanette for this... http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2011&raceno=07 ... and sopeaking of girls in HK (cause there are so few), good luck to Ms. River Jetez. |

Do you hae a pick, ed?
I'm so excited I'll be happy for whoever wins! My only real picks are Peppermint in R7 and Eight Plus Nine in the final - both longshots. I'm a fan of every single horse here but I suppose I'd be in tears if one of the members of the old guard like Good Ba Ba or Able One won it... It's all good. Come home safe, all of you. I'd love to see Thumbs Up or Beauty Flash win, but I think Presvis is going to be so hard to beat.
