![]() I think that the Faishes will get by somehow...
They did pension Kingmambo last fall, so the farm has taken a hit. Remember though, both were owned by syndicates, not just Lane's End.

![]() Lane's End stallion A.P. Indy (Seattle Slew--Weekend Surprise, by Secretariat) has been pensioned due to fertility issues. None of the mares bred to him this season have gotten in foal. "He was bred to 25 mares, and none have come back in foal," confirmed Lane's End's Will Farish. "He's been tailing off a little bit the last two years, but nothing like this. This was definitely not expected." Farish added that every effort had been made to address the problem. "We have had all kinds of veterinarians in to check his semen," he said. "He only has one testicle, and it has just deteriorated to the point where he isn't producing live sperm." Farish added, "This is a very sad time for the farm. He's just been such a wonderful horse for us--a wonderful yearling, a wonderful racehorse and a wonderful sire." Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old in 1992, the 22-year-old stallion was the nation's leading sire in 2003 and 2006. His nine champions include Classic winners Bernardini and Rags to Riches.

Seriously, he's done well and I hope he enjoys his all-around retirement. |

![]() Blood Horse Magazine said that A.P. Indy was ranked #101 on their list of top 100 horses of the last century. He just missed the list.
He was a great race horse and sire and an incredible gift to racing. I am sad to hear that the sire of such horses as Bernardini, Mineshaft and Rags to Riches is no longer going to be passing along his talent. But he certainly left his mark on the breed and racing is better off for his being foaled. I hope this champion enjoys his retirement - I can't think of another horse living who deserves it more. |

If you're just joking, then I apologize, but I got the impression your prior posts were not meant to be joking. Now as to Indy - I am saddened as he's not that old. On the other hand, he did much to keep the Bold Ruler line alive and he's got sons that are doing a fine job. IMO, he's earned his keep at Lane's End for as long as he lives and I hope he lives a long and happy life there. He was a very good racehorse and an outstanding sire - I do love him a ton. |
