Default Bob Davie?

As per usual, Brent Musselberger was doing the Nebraska Texas game with Bob Davie, so it was a silent game for me, no volume. At the end of the game, Texas has the ball on the Nebraska 5 yard line down 20-19. 3rd down, Texas has no time outs, 23 seconds left. They throw a jump ball to their 6'5" receiver Limas Sweed who is NOT covered one on one (the whole Nebraska team was covering him). It could have been an interception, admittedly a stupid throw. Just get rid of it out of the end zone, take your field goal.

I turn on the volume because an instant replay is used to see if there was an interception. I never saw the ball come down, so I turn the volume on to hear what is going on. The replay clearly shows incomplete.
THEN THE VOICE OF BOB DAVIE ANNOUNCES:
That was a bad call and a bad throw. Agree I say to myself. Then he goes on to say he would have run the ball to the middle of the field on this 3rd down play and kick a field goal.... WTF?????????

HELLO BOB, THERE WILL BE LESS THAN 23 FLIPPIN SECONDS ON THE CLOCK IF YOU RUN THE BALL TO THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD WITH THE CLOCK RUNNING. YOU HAVE NO TIMEOUTS, THE CLOCK WILL RUN OUT. ARE YOU GOING TO GET A COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAM'S OFFENSE OFF THE FIELD, AND THE KICKING TEAM ON IN THIS TIME?

NO WAY. NO FLIPPIN WAY. DOES MUSSELBERGER SAY A WORD ABOUT THIS? NO. DOES ANYONE GET IN HIS HEADPHONE AND REEXPLAIN THE SITUATION SO HE CAN CORRECT HIMSELF? NO.

Question: How did this idiot ever get hired at Notre Dame? How? No wonder this relatively young man is an announcer. He is a dolt. College football has a real problem; The more games that are broadcast, the dilution of people who can actually think diminishes. All that matters is a decent voice apparently.

Those of you that watch college football and understand the game, I might suggest you turn the volume off, and a turn on a radio station in its place if you cant stand the silence. Its getting really really bad. Sorry to sound so demonstrative, but this was so awful I had to post. A former coach... jeezzzz.

I watched that with the volume on. Apparently, he is not aware of the new "2min" rule in place.

Brett M is off to call NASCAR next year fyi.

Agree 110% with you
