Well, that's different. Secretariat is arguably the greatest ever and certainly in that conversation. Even so, after his Preakness, Secretariat's name and Spectacular Bid's name came up often in Smarty talk. Whether it was justified or not is not the point. Even if he wasn't seen as in their class, you can be a superstar without being in their class. There have been a LOT of superstars over the years since 1973 that haven't been thought of like Secretariat was.

I don't know what to tell you KG. I knew no racing fans personally that thought SJ was a legit superstar caliber horse.

The closest to that I can think of was probably Druggie, and he was no fan.

Well, I can't say you're wrong here because I don't know who you knew. Just seemed kind of odd to read considering how he was thought of by a lot of fans and media at the time.

Fortunately, most people don't have what used to commonly be called perspective.

Yeah, but he (Druggie) profusely proclaimed Street Sense as one of the all-time greats from his BC win to the end of his career.

I think he actually compared Street Sense's KD win to Secretariat's Belmont at one time.

Also, his hard fought Travers score over the indomitable Grasshopper was surely the stuff of legend.

A lot can change in 2 and a half months!

Ms. de Grace is looking awfully good as is Mr. S. Thirsty.

Who else?
