Loyal Shadow most likely is going to scratch out of the race Thursday for a starter allowance on Friday...also with Maylan Studart up.

Any particular reason you would prefer running Friday? Both races seem to lack early speed but friday seems to point to Madrilena running loose on the lead and might be hard to catch if left alone. Thursday's race shows Rosa Salvaje with some speed, but she might hit a wall especially with a few other horses that might put some pressure on her. I see you have secured Maylan both days. She seems to get the most out of Loyal Shadow each time she rides.
Hopefully Dutrow's filly isn't allowed to waltz out in a 45 and change and Loyal Shadow gets a better setup than appears on paper.
Either way best of luck to your filly and she comes back safe.
Will be cheering you on.

Not much separates either race. Of concern, is Maylan being able to work out a closing trip from the rail on Thursday if the speed does back up. The draw on Friday is favorable and the smaller field better suits her style. At her best I think Shadow can run down even lone speed. Also, the Friday race being in open company gives me a chance for owner and breeder awards should she hit the board, so in essence she is running for a bigger purse on Friday. Thanks for the good wishes for her. I expect she will run her race.

Thanks for the reply. I do appreciate it. Even though friday's race shows a tough lone speed filly. You never know if someone might try a new tactic or a horse might just run up on the leader.
Again, best of luck.
Looking forward to the race for you.

Live by Maylan, die by Maylan. She needs to run outside horses.

From the Conditions of this Friday's Schuylerville.....

A bonus of $200,000 jointly sponsored by Fasig-Tipton and NYRA will go to the owner of the first two-year old purchased at the 2010 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearlings sale to win a graded stake at Saratoga (The Schuylerville, The Sanford, The Adirondack, The Saratoga Special, The With Anticipation, The Spinaway or the The Hopeful.)

Seems like the perfect incentive to get Pal up north ASAP!

No. As previously mentioned in the Toy Cannon thread, he is most likely debuting at Belmont in September. He may come to Saratoga mid-August though.

Spoke with Gary after the work. He was pleased. Thought the colt has a good way of going and did everything well within himself. All in all, a useful first trip around Oklahoma.

Default Photos of Pal at Saratoga

My brother went to the Spa today. After meeting Steve for the 1st time and dropping the requisite Benjamin's into NYRA's coffers, he went and paid a visit to next year's Derby winner, My Pal of Pals. BTW, if you're planning on visiting, he's in Barn 58, Stall 2. (I'm referring to Pal, of course.... my brother is in Stall 3.)

He spoke w/ Paul Barone for a little bit (Gary Sciacca's longtime asst.).... said he was a terrific guy - answered lots of questions and was very accomodating. Paul mentioned Pal will probably get another published workout in the next day or two.

As Steve mentioned the other day on ATR, they're pointing for his debut to be @ SAR in late August.

Here are a few photos (if I'm doing this correctly). Apologies to Barbara Livingston, Skip Dickstein, et. al.
