Why do you need to bet off of a tablet if you are at home betting online with your computer?

Since it is only for people that are at Keeneland, you will have to bet online with your computer if you are at home. Unless you live at Keeneland.

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 5, 2011) – As Keeneland celebrates its 75th anniversary, the venerable racetrack continues leading the way in technology and innovation, including a fan friendly innovation that allows bettors to wager at the track using their SmartPhones or tablets such as iPads.

Created by United Tote, FastBet technology allows fans who are located on Keeneland’s grounds to use mobile platform technology to place a bet. It is free to wager and is convenient for those who want to make a bet but don’t want to stand in line.

“Keeneland introduced a beta version of FastBet in the spring and it was well received,” said Keeneland Vice President and Chief Information Officer Brad Lovell. “Those who tested it gave us great feedback and United Tote did a good job of integrating upgrades into this generation of the technology. Keeneland strives to be an incubator for the industry and we are proud to be the first track in America to offer this service to its fans.”

What are the benefits of doing this instead of just betting Twinspires or whatever from your phone while you are there?

I think it's for those who don't have a Twinspires account- you're placing your wager with the track, not an internet wagering company. They say it's for those who want to wager on-track but don't want to stand in line at the window.

If the signal is via wi-fi, that's a good additional benefit for people going to the track- free wi-fi.

still waiting for TVG to get their head out of their asses and to create an app, or at least have it where you can watch the live streaming video on the ipad or tablets.

This is absolutely brilliant. Want to get the UK crowd in the game? This helps.

That is exactly what it is for. If you have a Twinspires account, you can already wager on your I-phone/pad.

Great idea by Keenland. They offer this option so they get the money from the online wagering at the track instead of their competitors(twin spires, xpressbet).

Yep. Smart on their end. I live in Austin, TX so I don't get a chance to get to the track much anymore and do all my betting on line. I was at Remington Park twice a few weeks ago and found myself betting the RP product on Xpressbet while at the track. Just way too convienent. However, had RP had this option, I would have gone that route instead.
