Default Aruna...

I know she's never run on dirt before, but just looking at her PPs and her breeding, I would've played her (at least in exotics) in the Ladies Classic. Was there ever any consideration to put her in that race from her connections? Was the threat of possibly going up against Havre de Grace a reason why they decided not to? Do you give her much of a chance in the F&M Turf? Just rambling, but I thought she would've been an interesting contender if they decided to enter her in the Ladies Classic instead.

Shes a nice horse, but to me it feels like she has no spot in the BC this year. You can say the same about a lot of horses, and I guess that's why they run the races. In the Ladies Classic I'm not sure how Plum Pretty or Royal Delta don't win. Anyone else would be one of the biggest surprises of the weekend for me. As for the FnM turf, it looks like the 3 Euros and Stacelita. I have always like Aruna, I just don't see where she can make an impact.

I like Aruna's chances in her race. Asking Mr. Greeley to get more ground is iffy, but she runs like she wants more.
I would not leave Its Tricky out of the Ladies Classic and rate her just behind Royal Delta. Somebody's going to make it uncomfortable for Plum Pretty up front.

Motion was quoted as saying he didn't want to "waste her season" by running on the dirt and then having her not handle the surface.

You know, because if you lose the BC, they take away all your other victories from earlier in the year.

Of course, ending the campaign of a Grade 2 miler in a long-distance Grade 1 is perfectly logical. Would she even be in the BC had she not won the Spinster on the Polytrack?

Looking at her PPs, at least on the turf it looks like she's had no problem with a Mile&1/8, I just thought you could take that Spinster win and say "let's see how she does on the dirt as opposed to let's put her in a really tough spot on the grass".

Do they need to add a Filly and Mare Turf Mile next year lol?

It seemed like a lot of it hinged on the dirt workout, which wasn't particularly flashy according to the trainer. He pulled the same stunt with Animal Kingdom, never working him on the dirt until just before the Kentucky Derby, but the difference being Animal Kingdom lit up the track in a bullet move.

It wouldn't be shocking. If not the Distaff, this filly should be in the undercard race (the Grade 3 Cardinal), before taking a stab at a turf Grade 1 in the Matriarch at Hollywood later this year.
