Maybe he thought speed was going to hold for 1 3/4 miles

And the horse still managed 4th despite the ride.

Caton said on TV they've found at least 3 shoes on the track. It's gooey, "peanut butter-like" ... esp down inside.

I'm a but surprised no one was really able to make a dent from well off despite a 21-flat guns-a-blazing quarter by the inside two.

If the Breeders Cup really wanted to improve the program they would create a wager for having 1st and 3rd.

This looks like her easiest test. Played Goldikova on top. In second and third I have Zoffany, Courageous Cat, Mr. Commons, and Jeranimo. Good luck to all.

The stewards invoked the Gio Ponti Shall Never Beat Goldikova Doctrine.

I'm gonna need to watch it a few times, but I was so focused on her that I was paying zero attention to Courageous Cat. I'm sure if folks say he was interfered with, he was. I don't feel too outraged though that she stayed up. I was a little sad that she'd go out with that on her record.

<<As the field neared the stretch, Drosselmeyer was in front of only two horses, but the field was beginning to bunch, so Smith took him wide.

"I knew he liked a mile and a half," Smith said, referring to the Belmont victory, "so I went wide so he'd think he was running a mile and half.">>

Heh.
