Default Gulfstream early opening

Call me a purist but I realized today how much I used to look forward to opening day in January. Today it just feels like 'another' South Florida day at Calder.

I think Calder should have go through Sunday and then had at least a small break inbetween like New York does.

I looked at every race. Its not the best card, first thought I had was Calder.

I love the trackus, but the big jockey silks and odds is pretty annoying.

It would be better if they put the actual silks like they did in the first race, and put the odds in between instead of on top. Alot going on.

Apparently that's something that will gradually be worked in as the meet progresses. They will only have the silks in for Races 1,5,9 today. When they don't have the silks in the database they should just take them down because it's annoying.

Try to keep an open mind... They're running a 2nd one tomorrow so you'll have a lot more to go on at that point.
Is there any reason to have any faith in the timer for these races?

I'm a fan of this.. Didn't bet but watched most of the card and it was refreshing to see a turf course that didn't resemble Tom Coughlin's face.

I can assure you that the silks issue is being worked on diligently. What Gulfstream wants to do with the silks on the feed has never been done before in this country. Trakus is hoping silks coverage will be gradually ramped up as the meet continues.

A way to get it jump started in to put the silks in a racing program.

Yes, Trackus.

Same with Tampa.

The chicklets need to be smaller when the silks deal is being used. They are too big for the small rectangle that they are squeezed into.

Since it sounds like you are working for Trakus, can you tell me if the Tampa Trakus charts are going to be made available on the Tampa website (or anywhere else for that matter)? If they are not available, I don't see the point of adding Trakus. The chicklets are all well and good, but if the information is not available, it's not really of any use to me.

Does Equibase now use the Trakus charts, or do the two report different times?

They report different times.

I'm going to watch and note the reported differences between all distances.

For instance -- if there's 15 races at 8f on the turf -- I'll have the difference between the two timers. Same at 9f on the turf etc.

A little extreme. They are simply unneeded. US bettors quit caring about silks when unfied saddle blanket coloring came in. Use on or the other, but not both.

That will be quite the project with the plethora of rail positions used.
