Obama's Reverse Hail Mary The Streamline Government Fake
In almost an accepting of Jesus like, Tim Tebow moment, he calls a live press conference attempting a last minute reverse to announce America’s need for a leaner, smarter, consumer friendly government and get this, he seeks authorization from congress, authorization that was taken away from President Reagan by a Democratic congress, authorization to streamline redundant government agencies.
As an example he offered the Small Business Administration as just one of six departments, all-dealing with business and trade. Anticipating he is going to run the reverse with merging the SBA, he fakes the run, pulls up and throws a hail Mary, announcing not that he is going to streamline the SBA but rather elevate them to a Cabinet Level Position and add yet another duplicate website that promises to be simpler than the other six, already in service, to use. The equivalent of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic in an effort to keep her afloat. This Reverse-Hail Mary is such a flip-flop and poster child of hypocrisy; a flag needs to be thrown calling intentional grounding. How did it take a President, as intelligent as this one is made out to be, so long to switch off his failed fantasy game plan of a bigger more involved government being superior? Why during a press conference called to announce a leaner government does he use the occasion to announce the promotion of a government agency and the addition of another web-site that both has to be created and managed when he stated, said site is admittedly a duplication of six other sites already operating? Don’t get me wrong; should Obama be forced to play out this bluff, his hypocrisy can be used to better America. But cutting anything is not his forte nor congress’. What could work is hiring out one of the leading business consulting firms to streamline, the five departments representing Housing, the twelve for Food Safety, and the six for Business/Trade as pointed out by Obama. The consulting firm would not be paid a fee but instead would receive compensation as a percentage of money saved once the consolidating was completed. By merging out even half of the departments, the savings could be huge and realized year after year with the percentage offered to the consulting firm being well spent. With a record of success they’d move on to the Departments representing Health and Education whom when compared to those mentioned above are duplicative to the nth degree. When hell freezes over and pigs fly, on the same day. Mr. President, if you really have come to your senses, which, I doubt and have come over to the government is too big side; you don’t need authorization to streamline. What you need to do is order your compatriots in the House and Senate to draw up specific bills, formulated on the recommendations of the Consulting firm citing the consolidations of the departments you mentioned. Then they need to pass them with the assurance of getting your signature. In the meantime I’d go review all the new positions, czars, and offices created under your administration to make sure there’s no redundancy there. Oh and maybe issue an official apology to the State of Arizona for suing them. Surely with your newfound need for a streamlined government you realize they were just trying to assist INS and weren’t trying to step on any toes. Realize too that you serve the people of the United States not the amigos of Mexico. Call me paranoid but it makes me a wee bit suspicious of the real motives behind fighting the requirement to produce identification when casting a ballot. I guess he was too busy getting guns to Mexican drug dealers and killing American citizens with drones to worry about streamlining government during the first three years.

The cognative dissonence is simply amazing
Obama suggests something that is a conservative wet dream (making government smaller and less expensive) and conservative heads explode in anger and ad hominem attacks!

By the way ... saying the President has enlarged
government? Pretty much an outright lie. There are about the same number of federal employees now as there were during Bush. Zero significant difference.

For decades the Republican Party has stated government was too big but has failed miserably doing anything about it. The American Libertarian Party knew it since the day they were founded. So if only we can defeat the American Communist Party we have all parties on board a common cause, something that hasn’t occurred since perhaps we landed on the moon. However like going to the moon, the achievement isn’t gained with simply an idea and or plan but rather setting the idea as a goal, then fulfilling the goal and completing the plan. A Super Committee, of purportedly our finest politicians, from both parties, (no Libertarians or members of any other party) was assembled this past summer/fall to propose cuts in the mega-trillion dollar Obama budget. After meeting for months, conducting as they called it, exhaustive talks, they as a group, were unable to cut a single dollar. As I’ve expounded here before, this result was inevitable as each and every politician, that made up that Super Committee, was elected to office based not on what he/she could cut but to the contrary what he/she could provide. The brightest of the bight politicians, fighting over money for their States and causes is akin to a group of starving Ethiopians fighting over food. There is no order. No sharing and most important no saving or even notion of saving. The Ethiopians are fighting because of starvation. Our politicians are fighting because of greed. Let’s be honest. The Press Conference farce called Friday was nothing but a taxpayer paid, political commercial full of lies. Unfortunately for the taxpayer, the President’s counterpart, the Republicans will not call his bluff by drawing up bills, detailing consolidations because it’s not in their interest to cut anything either. Until the taxpayer figures out they’re in a three-handed poker game they weren’t invited to but are anteing in every hand, they’re screwed. If Mr. Taxpayer were able to be at the table, he’d see the Democrat and Republican winking at each other and only taking a hand out of turn when the other is in the bathroom or not looking. Consolidation, especially in the case of the U.S. Government, would be a piece of cake if only the Government sought out private professionals to handle the job. Leaving it to Government and the President to solve is the equivalent of asking Harry Reid and the Senate to build a rocket, John Bohner & Co. to build a ground support system, and have the President pilot his family to the moon on his next vacation. Mr. President, congrats on the recess nomination of three additional appointments to the National Labor Board whom I trust surely is not part of the redundancy you spoke of. Good luck defending the lawsuit.
Kind of like Seinfeld’s, ‘Opposite George’ move!!!!! Actually more of a ‘Curious George’ move. |

Survey released by the US Chamber of Commerce of over 1,300 small businesses with a +/- 2.5%
74% (or simply put three out of four) are NOT HIRING because of reform. 86% said that regulations, restrictions and taxes were major concerns. http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/18/su...#ixzz1jwAiieeU The response this morning, to the survey by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, was ‘small businesses pay 18% more for care than larger corporations and change is coming. She went on to belittle the respondents (small business owners) stating they didn’t know what was in the bill.’ How ignorant and narcissistically self-righteous are these people? This lady actually believes she knows more about small businesses than their owners? Have we actually evolved from it taking a village to raise a child to it taking government to run your business? Business owners are screaming their problems stem from taxation and regulation and the government is responding with more taxation and regulation. At least her audacious statements revealed a likely motive behind Obama’s streamline government press conference/plan. The timing of announcing the elevation of the Small Business Administration to a cabinet level position, at the conference was curious. Especially in light of the President explaining the SBA was one of six separate agencies all dealing with business and commerce thus making it (the SBA) redundant. Furthermore when the President represented the streamline authorization he sought to be a ‘money saver’ yet explained only $3 billion would be saved over 10 years and in a Moses Parts the Sea moment, despite the streamlining of numerous agencies, proclaimed the only jobs lost would be thru retirement, the actual intent of the plan was exposed. In a three card Monty like move the President kept showing the money-saving and efficient cards until he had the suckers pulled in and then popped the power card. This ploy has thankfully been exposed and now needs to be stopped. What nefarious reason would the President have for wanting the SBA to be part of his cabinet? How much money does the SBA distribute in loans every year and who controls the guidelines for those loans? Why would he want to control the streamlining of government? Simple, to prevent it, as demonstrated by his plans for consolidation without any termination. Can you imagine any private business consolidating offices because of redundancy yet not laying off or terminating anyone? An even greater danger exists with the potential gain of control of SBA loans. Should the President in a Clintonian/Fannie-Freddie like moment decide the guidelines should be changed and factors like merit, credit and business plan should be exchanged with cultural merits and considerations of entities outside of the traditional business and credit standards. The SBA could then compete with Fannie/Freddie in the category of epic failure. Of course no jobs will be lost. Last edited by dellinger63 : 01-19-2012 at 03:58 PM. |

The US Chamber of Commerce is a right-wing organization. One well-known to have some trouble with the truth:

The FAA funding extension, once again before congress, presents an ideal opportunity for a bi-partisan resolution addressing the big government/streamline process that the President stated was needed.
With 4,000 workers furloughed over an extended period of time and no planes falling from the sky or airports shutting down, there is obvious redundancy within the FAA. By ‘streamlining’ and permanently furloughing just half of the 4K workers not missed would not only aid the President in attaining what he said was needed but more importantly aid the American taxpayer. Not to mention creating a prototype demonstrating how streamlining and consolidation within the government is done. It’s a small step but nonetheless a step. Numbers behind a FAA 2 thousand-worker cut: Average Salary Per Year $80K X 2000= $160 million Benefits (Healthcare)/year $3K X 2000= $6 million Savings over 10 years $1.66 Billion Pension (70% salary $56K/yr over 15 years)= $112 million X 15yrs = $1.68 Billion So bingo, there you have it. By ‘streamlining’ just one mid-size government agency the total savings reaped over 10 years exceeds the President’s savings plan ‘streamlining’ the entire government by $334 million. It’s also a deal he can’t refuse lest expose the fact he really wants to cut nothing. This is just one goldmine the taxpayer can claim among thousands. Many are also far, far larger than the FAA. The average taxpayer needs to never forget that when raising the debt limit was being fought over, it was Social Security and Military checks that were not going to be sent out.. Not a peep over civilian government employee checks including Congress and the President’s. Of course, as a safety net, a Super Committee was formed, that true to form did nothing so now we’re back at square one only a trillion and a half is already gone and they’re back begging for more. Sad but truth be told, excluding IOU’s there are more assets in Federal Government pension funds than there is in the Social Security trust. |
