We believe the worst of the emaciation is over and have not lost any horses for the last couple of weeks. 2 of the 4 I was caring for did succumb to starvation, it was just irreversible. However the surviving 2 were re-united with their herd about a week and 1/2 ago. There was great joy in the herd, galloping in the pasture, something we had never seen from these horses. They are still at pretty significant risk for the next 5 to 6 months, and the rain rot on these poor horses was just abysmal. But their prognosis becomes brighter every week.
FG Fan, it's so wonderful you're there to help out.

God bless all of those horses and if you see that little one please give her a hug from all of us. I've never seen such a little cutie-pie. I'll say a prayer for her and her mom every day along with the others.

Keep us updated if you can, ok? (photos of Jewel too!)

Well I can't take too much credit, there are lots of people doing WAY more than I am. I just live close by the farms where these horses went. There are more photos on facebook. Right now I'm just helping with some computer background work because thankfully and hopefully the worst is over.
Although I do know they are in the process of intaking 22 more horses,(not from the same place) we had a meeting Friday.
As far as I know things are still fine, and she was doing well, a friend went and did a photograph session with her Saturday and all was good. BUT there is something in the works and when she is finished with it I'll let you know, you'll love it.

Thanks FG Fan. I've been thinking about little Jewel ever since I saw her photo here. She's my background pic on my home PC and at work. I can't get enough of her.

Authentic Big Brown Halter Auction to benefit Louisiana Horse Rescue Assoc.(LHRA) and the horses of Many, LA. Most have been adopted a few linger, and LHRA has incurred huge past and ongoing Veterinary bills for these horses.
We have a live auction going on right now on e-bay for Big Browns halter donated to us by Three Chimneys Farm to support LHRA’s efforts. Big Brown’s sire Boundary is the sire of one of the mares found in the Many, LA seizure.
The halter comes with certification from the Stallion Manager at Three Chimneys stating that Big Brown wore this, a lock of his mane, a Three Chimneys/Big Brown hat with his shoulder spot embroidered on it, and a beautiful photo from Three Chimneys of him rearing in the pasture on their farm.
We will also be adding Mission Impazible’s halter and hat and Mucho Macho Man’s halter in the next coming weeks.
Follow this link to e-bay and get your bid in. Please share this with your friends, your groups and anyone you know is fan of Big Brown. This is for an excellent cause LHRA retires, retrains and rehabs, as well as providing Veterinary care for thoroughbreds from the tracks and farms. Let the bidding wars begin please!
