Default U.S. Second Highest in Child Poverty

Among Industrialized Countries.

UNICEF needs to study itself IMO

Except the fact 3rd Highest Latvia and Fourth Place Bulgeria's average median income is half of what is considered our poverty threshold. In other words the people who this survey are considering poor in the U.S. make twice as much as the average family in Latvia and Bulgeria. I think we deserve a pat on the back and and attaboy!

Especially when you consider a child growing up in poverty in the U.S. is doing so on a household income four times that of a poor child in the country's ahead of it makes the study comedy and severly biased.

This was like the kid in my science 5th grade class who tried to prove pollution is bad for fish by pouring a half bottle of draino powder into a gold fish bowl.

"Our children in poverty are richer than children in poverty in other countries, so it's okay! We deserve a pat on the back!"

Oh.

My.

God.

are you comparing wages here vs there, as well as cost of living? lower wages doesn't necessarily equal low standard of living.

No just making the point a 'poor' household making 20K here are equal to poor households making 5K there yet our children are considered poorer.

Also half of the median income of a rich country is not necessarily poor. Just as the bottom half of the graduating class at Harvard is not dumb. In fact it's considered middle to upper class in many of the other 'industrialized' countries.

Again the self-loathing for the country coupled with the entitlements some Americans seem to harbor is disgusting to me.

Perhaps poor Latvian mothers can give household budgeting lessons to ours?

It is just another flawed report by liberal freaks to push their unpopular and failed agenda on a public that doesn't want it. They use some made up term called "relative poverty" which penalizes the US because we are more successful than the other countries, although another 4 years of Obama will take care of that.

Thumbs down

As soon as the Olympics are done I'll do a UNIFEF based Country athlete greatness award based on medals v. population. I will put together a mid-east pullout section similar to the DRF weekend edition.

T-Graphs show Kenya and Ethiopia with speed. But the form shows USA is the class in the race.

Predict the top 5:

Winner gets all the beer* they want Travers' Day. **

Or a beer and a dispensary puff at BC Santa Anita. ***

* Miller Light (or what's ever in the cooler)
** Must be present
*** Subject to availability
