Default 20,000 More?

If this is the plan, what do you think?

I'm guessing nobody read the Guardian article.
This one spells out what the withdrawl will look like.
It's an opinion.

DTS: read them both, just for you! It sure is a mess ...no matter who's looking at it. Without a diatribe on Bush from you, I'd to share some thoughts. 1) Getting those factions together will literally be a miracle. 2)I don't think 20,000 is enough. If Bush is aiming for 1 big push then it should be 40,000 and sustained for 3-6 mos to secure major parts of country for peaceful, stable ruling govt. Apparently, the call to withdraw will be too great for the Admin to ignore. 3)Bush1 is smarter than his son, because he knew this region was a quagmire ready to explode. 4)Iraqi govt should declare martial law to protect its' citizens from insurgents....since the economy is screwed, might as well clean out the varmints 5) Iran is nuttier and more dangerous than North Korea. 6) If the World Community does not stop Iran, then all hell with break out. I'd tell you more but that would entail me reading the articles again, and I'm pressed for time!

Timm,
Thanks for reading them.
Yes it's a mess.
How many more brave American lives do you think we need to invest in this lost cause?
Sorry, my friend, it's over.
Iran is going to be a very big winner since it's been handed to them on a platter.
Time to talk. Save some face, and get our sweet buns out of that oven.

Timm,
I meant to get back to you on this.
Seems like your estimite of 40,000 more is a bit under.
Thsi article paints a more realistic picture of what it would take.
http://www.salon.com/politics/war_ro...ain/index.html

I certainly hoped things wouldn't have turned out this way, but with the news today that the Sunnis are looking to withdraw from their positions in the Iraqi government, what more do you think the US can do?
What is the "democracy" that we are remaining there to stabilize?
I sure hope the Baker team comes up with some realistic options to "save face". We'll see.
DTS

ps...notice??? No Bush bashing.

Timm,
Here's a link to the arrest of the Sunni. Scroll down until you get to "Sunni Response".

DTS: Well...that about does it! If the govt falls apart, it is over for all realistic purposes. If 500,000 troops can't quell the insurgents...sheesh! How big is Iraq? the size of California? smaller than Texas for sure, right? Be praying for Mr. Baker! Thanks for the "no bash" zone!
