Default Trapped

Kofi Annan has made a statement.

Maybe some truth to his words.

I agree with Kofi Annan that we are indeed trapped in Iraq...but unfortunately I have to disagree that the leaders of Syria and Iran see a peaceful resolution in their best interest...obviously, they feel their "best interests" lie in continued bloodshed and terrorism...in Iraq, Israel and worldwide. This is of course what makes the situation in Iraq appear so hopeless! I wish I had a simple answer...I wish I had any answer!

Somerfrost,
I too wish I had the answer, simple or any.
Three were "floated" by the Pentagon yesterday. Go big, go home, go long.
That's it.
Go big doesn't seem to make much sense at this point. Even Shays (R Conn) says that the Sunnis and Shia have to resolve their differences before he'll go along with that.
Go home. Actually, I don't think this is a "winner' either. Redeploy in the area, perhaps. The Iraqis aren't ready to take over the security of their own country.
Go long...reminds me of "Vietnamization"...and we know how that worked out.
I wish I had any answer. This mess is too big for me to get my head around.
