Pride Booked To Monsun (no author listed) Wednesday, 13 December 2006: Grand Peintre Celebre mare Pride, after ending her career in glory at Hong Kong last Sunday, has been booked to be served by the champion German sire Monsun in 2007. Monsun stands at Baron Georg von Ullmann's Gestut Schlenderhan in Germany where his 2007 service fee has been increased to €120,000. Monsun has dominated sires tables in Germany this decade with the six-year-old stallion boasting four Group 1 winners this season led by another outstanding mare Shirocco. Pride recorded her ninth win in 26 starts when she held on for a game win in last Sunday's Hong Kong Cup to take her earnings to almost $US4 million. The six-year-old was highweight mare in Britain and France in 2005 and this year beat 2005 Arc winner Hurricane Run in both the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and the G1 Newmarket Champion takes. She was also beaten a neck when second to Rail Link in the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October. Pride is from the Alleged mare Specificity, a descendant of Bold Ruler's dam Miss Disco. Pride was her fourth foal after she produced the G3 winner Major Rhythm (Rhythm) and subsequently Danehill Dancer's daughter Speciosa, winner of this year's G1 Thousand Guineas at Newmarket. Specificity was passed in for €320,000 at Goff's 2005 November sale but Speciosa and pride's success this year saw her sold for 1.85 million guineas at er this month Tattersalls broodmare sale in foal to Danehill Dancer. |
