Nicole Russo | Nov 03, 2021 Following are horses to watch during the Fasig–Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale, to be held the evening of Nov. 9 in Lexington. Horses were selected based primarily on their own racing and/or production records and their pedigrees, including, in the case of broodmares and broodmare prospects, production results of notable family members. The selections reflect catalog updates and sale supplements or outs through Oct. 23. Hip No. 59, filly by Uncle Mo – Issues, by Awesome Again. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales, agent. This filly is a weanling half–sister to Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and Eclipse Award champion Accelerate. Their dam, the stakes–placed Awesome Again mare Issues, also produced stakes winners Daddy D T and Amarish, and one of her daughters, New Issue, is the dam of a pair of stakes-placed runners, increasing this filly’s residual value. Hip No. 88, colt by Medaglia d’Oro – Perfect Note, by Elusive Quality. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales, agent. Quality Road’s sales figures have continued to improve as his stud fee has climbed, and he is coming off a yearling season in which he led the Keeneland September sale by average price. Eclipse champion Take Charge Brandi, who has not yet produced a winner, is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Omaha Beach; their granddam is multiple Grade 1 winner and Broodmare of the Year Take Charge Lady. Contrive is the dam of Eclipse champion Folklore, who is now the granddam of Japanese Triple Crown winner and champion Contrail. Contrive’s stakes-placed daughter Delightful Quality is the dam of Eclipse champion Essential Quality, winner of this year’s Belmont Stakes and a candidate for the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Going to Vegas is one of several racemares bound for the Breeders’ Cup prior to sale. She heads into the BC Filly and Mare Turf off her biggest victory, in the Grade 1 Rodeo Drive. Multiple Grade 1 winner Guarana is carrying her first foal, to the cover of the nation’s leading sire. The young mare is a half-sister to Grade 2-placed stakes winner Magic Dance, and their dam, a daughter of prominent broodmare sire Distorted Humor, is on offer as Hip No. 203, also in foal to Into Mischief. Guarana herself is by an emerging broodmare sire in Ghostzapper, and this is the family of champions Sky Beauty, Dayjur, and Gold Beauty, Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Pleasant Home, and additional Grade 1 winners Maplejinsky, Pine Island, Point of Entry, Tale of Ekati, and Violence. This mare’s first foal is Grade 1 winner Medina Spirit, who crossed the line first in the Kentucky Derby. The foal she is carrying is bred on the same Giant’s Causeway-line cross. This is the family of Irish 1000 Guineas winner Forest Flower and multiple Grade 1 winner High Yield. Hip No. 211, Moonshine Memories (in foal to Into Mischief), mare by Malibu Moon – Unenchantedevening, by Unbridled’s Song. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent. This young mare, whose first foal is a yearling, was a multiple Grade 1-winning juvenile. Her dam is a half-sister to Horse of the Year Favorite Trick, and this also is the family of classic winner Tiz the Law. Hip No. 232, Shedaresthedevil, filly by Daredevil – Starship Warpspeed, by Congrats. Consigned by Hunter Valley Farm, agent. Shedaresthedevil’s biggest of seven career graded stakes wins came in the 2020 Kentucky Oaks. She is expected to start in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff the weekend prior to sale. Hip No. 246, Swiss Skydiver, filly by Daredevil – Expo Gold, by Johannesburg. Consigned by Runnymede Farm, agent. Eclipse Award champion Swiss Skydiver won five graded stakes in her championship campaign, including the 2020 Preakness Stakes. She went on to be a Grade 1 winner at 4. Hip No. 251, Valiance, mare by Tapit – Last Full Measure, by Empire Maker. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent. Valiance won the Grade 1 Spinster last year and was second to Monomoy Girl in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff. She is a third-generation Grade 1 winner, following her dam, Last Full Measure, and granddam, Lazy Slusan.
