So, I decide last week to change car insurance companies. I spend the better part of the week in my off time calling, etc etc looking for the best plan and rates (not an easy task for someone who has had "the issues" that I have had). I find the company I want to go with.

This past Saturday night, March 3rd, I decide that I am going with Company X.

Yesterday, Sunday, March 4th, as I am pulling out of the parking lot, an individual backs right into me. Does significant damage to the passenger fender, bumper cover and passenger door. I call the police but the will not respond because it was on private property.

We exchange information. I call his insurance company last night. They call back today and are unable to reach said individual. Their is a chance I may have to go thru my existing insurance company. They can not tell me when they will be out to appraise the damage, sometime this week they say.

Any insight on what I can do? I need to drop my current insurance company for a variety of reasons, but am in this pickle.

Complicated situation.
