![]() Well I’m home for spring break this week and next and there’s only one thing that can keep me from being totally bored. . .
I downloaded the Gulfstream card planning on playing the late pk4 but I don’t really like the sequence. . . I’ve decided to just do some small win bets to keep me occupied for the day and to give me some handicapping practice. Here are my picks: R2 #2 Say You Will (IRE)- 5-1 – Johnny V/Darley – Very nice pedigree – Debuted at Tampa and ran a pretty even 4th- That’s a quirky surface and he may prefer the GP track - 2nd R3 #6 Hello Prospector- 12-1 – Former Tagg/Lael horse was a fairly decent runner until a few starts back- Has run less impressively in his last few starts but I liked his last race- He set the pace coming off a layoff and even though he was easily beaten, he put up a decent fight- Now he stretches out a little bit to his preferred distance and gets Prado- VERY intriguing- my pick of the day-looked ok until he got bounced around like a pinball at the top of the stretch R4 #5 Eager Genius- 5-1 – Cuts back to best distance and gets Corny- Ferris is pretty decent 1st off the claim and this one seems to have just as good of a chance as any at a slightly better price -5th R5 #2 Trippi’s Storm- 8-1 - Stretches out and switches to the turf for the first time- Hough not great with turf/dirt angle but the horse appears to be suited for changes- Sire has had decent turf runners including a filly that just won at same distance and surface at Tampa- Moves up in class a little- Win and place horses from last have won next out -wins and pays $19.80 for $2. . . I win for the day no matter what happens from here on out R6 #8 Dancer Oscar- 10-1 – Takes a slight drop and should like the distance- Won last out under similar conditions - never close. . . R7 #1 Classic Fran- 6-1 – 2 for 2 at 1 mile and has one win and one place from 2 starts on GP lawn- Just lost to the 2 horse in this race last out but had a less ideal set-up than the winner – Lewis Michael will be way over bet and has no business being the 2-1 favorite – This one has best chance to beat #4 Baron Von Tap -close up 2nd R9 #8 Mystery Prospect- 4-1 – 3rd off the lay-off and loses the blinkers – has been in contention at this level in prior starts
