Default Is Variety stupid or are we?

So, I was reading on Variety's website about the second season of "The Tudors" (the rather bad costume drama that, for some reason, is on my "don't miss" list of TV shows) and I read this:

"Second season will document the marriage of Henry VIII to Anne Boleyn, the birth of daughter Elizabeth, the Reformation and (spoiler alert!) the beheading of Boleyn."

Now, I ask, is that really a "spoiler?" I mean, anyone who didn't already know Henry VIII had Boleyn executed is probably not watching "The Tudors" anyway. Is being told "the ship sinks" a spoiler for "Titanic?" Is being told "he gets crucified" a spoiler for "The Passion of the Christ?"

So, is Variety stupid or do the writers just assume we are? These are the questions that leave me awake at night.

Sorry if I just spoiled "Titanic" or "The Passion" for anyone.
