In a funny way, since personally I am not a big fan of the BC, I find these changes amusing. However, from a larger perspective they are unfortunate for a variety of reasons. Call it selfish, but I think comparable races, like the 2YO dirt races, should be run on the same day for comparative purposes. Renaming the Distaff sounds like some marketing genius's idea, someone who knows nothing about racing, saying " people don't know what Distaff means " when in actuality it is only that person that doesn't know. Perhaps they can take this one step further and rename fillies " debutantes " and mares " ladies. "
