Default Strange Weather On West Coast

At Del Mar (San Diego), the high every day lately has been around 68 degrees. I read that it was the coldest July in San Diego since 1933. But just 340 miles away in Las Vegas, it was the hottest July in recorded history. How strange is that? San Diego has their coldest July in 77 years while Las Vegas, which is not very far away, has their hottest July in over 100 years (or however many years it has been since they started keeping track).
