Obama's Reverse Hail Mary The Streamline Government Fake
In almost an accepting of Jesus like, Tim Tebow moment, he calls a live press conference attempting a last minute reverse to announce America’s need for a leaner, smarter, consumer friendly government and get this, he seeks authorization from congress, authorization that was taken away from President Reagan by a Democratic congress, authorization to streamline redundant government agencies.
As an example he offered the Small Business Administration as just one of six departments, all-dealing with business and trade. Anticipating he is going to run the reverse with merging the SBA, he fakes the run, pulls up and throws a hail Mary, announcing not that he is going to streamline the SBA but rather elevate them to a Cabinet Level Position and add yet another duplicate website that promises to be simpler than the other six, already in service, to use. The equivalent of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic in an effort to keep her afloat. This Reverse-Hail Mary is such a flip-flop and poster child of hypocrisy; a flag needs to be thrown calling intentional grounding. How did it take a President, as intelligent as this one is made out to be, so long to switch off his failed fantasy game plan of a bigger more involved government being superior? Why during a press conference called to announce a leaner government does he use the occasion to announce the promotion of a government agency and the addition of another web-site that both has to be created and managed when he stated, said site is admittedly a duplication of six other sites already operating? Don’t get me wrong; should Obama be forced to play out this bluff, his hypocrisy can be used to better America. But cutting anything is not his forte nor congress’. What could work is hiring out one of the leading business consulting firms to streamline, the five departments representing Housing, the twelve for Food Safety, and the six for Business/Trade as pointed out by Obama. The consulting firm would not be paid a fee but instead would receive compensation as a percentage of money saved once the consolidating was completed. By merging out even half of the departments, the savings could be huge and realized year after year with the percentage offered to the consulting firm being well spent. With a record of success they’d move on to the Departments representing Health and Education whom when compared to those mentioned above are duplicative to the nth degree. When hell freezes over and pigs fly, on the same day. Mr. President, if you really have come to your senses, which, I doubt and have come over to the government is too big side; you don’t need authorization to streamline. What you need to do is order your compatriots in the House and Senate to draw up specific bills, formulated on the recommendations of the Consulting firm citing the consolidations of the departments you mentioned. Then they need to pass them with the assurance of getting your signature. In the meantime I’d go review all the new positions, czars, and offices created under your administration to make sure there’s no redundancy there. Oh and maybe issue an official apology to the State of Arizona for suing them. Surely with your newfound need for a streamlined government you realize they were just trying to assist INS and weren’t trying to step on any toes. Realize too that you serve the people of the United States not the amigos of Mexico. Call me paranoid but it makes me a wee bit suspicious of the real motives behind fighting the requirement to produce identification when casting a ballot.
