http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTc5rhkoy7s The Democrats were to change their platform yesterday, and the chairperson pointed out that a 2/3 majority was needed. He took a voice vote 3 times and then announced, “In the opinion of the chair, the ayes have it.” With a simple majority, you could likely call it either way if it sounds close. But for 2/3, there had better be an audible volume difference in the voice vote. I’d love to see a decibel meter on this. The important part is that if a vote is not counted, if the objective criterion for the decision is not followed, then the result is arbitrary and not a vote at all – tyranny. It will be funny to see the liberal condescension that ensues in defense of this practice. |
