Default 2/9: Gulfstream Park (5th-12th)

GULFSTREAM PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

5th: OC/N1X, 3yo, 6.5f (P3, DD)

John Gordon makes 3yo debut here and may provide some value in amongst the obvious Park City, Declan's Warrior and Little Distorted.

Most Likely: #4 Park City 3-1 WON ($8.20)
Best Value: #3 John Gordon 8-1 9th
Next Best: #9 Little Distorted 5-2 7th
Exotics Use: #2 Declan's Warrior 4-1 2nd

6th: MSW, 3yo, 8.5f (P3, DD)

This looks like a pretty ordinary bunch, so digging around for some alternatives to the most apparent candidates may be worthwhile. War Dancer (6-1) tries main track for McPeek in 2nd start and faced off versus impressive Jack Milton in turf debut..

Best Value: #7 War Dancer 6-1 4th
Next Best: #3 Tapulous 3-1 5th
Exotics Use: #5 Wabbajack 5-1 2nd
Super Add: #2 Dyker Beach 6-1 6th

7th: OC/N1X, 3yo, 8.5f-T/48' (P6, P3, DD)

$1,802,707 Jackpot Rainbow 6

Most Likely: #5 Jack Milton 3-1 2nd
Next Best: #4 Play It Loud 4-1 7th
Best Value: #3 Prima Zip 12-1 10th
Exotics Use: #11 Reporting Star 12-1 3rd

<$20 P3 Play:

5: 3-4-9
6: 1-2-3-5-7-9
7: 5

3x6x1 = $18

8th: 30th Gulfstream Park Turf H. (G1), 4+, 9f-T/108' (P6, P3, DD)

While Animal Kingdom and Point of Entry are the heavyweights here returning from respective runner up efforts in the Breeders' Cup, be aware that the turf course has gotten hard and fast once again and those trying to close are increasingly compromised. Salto and Unbridled Command will be leading turning for home and depending on the early fractions, may be tough to reel in..

ML NOTE: A misprint has Unbridled Command at 15-1 and Where's the Baby 4-1. Flip those prices..

Most Likely: #4 Unbridled Command 4-1 3rd
Next Best: #6 Animal Kingdom 8-5 2nd
Exotics Use: #2 Point of Entry 9-5 WON ($6.20)
Super Add: #3 Salto 4-1 4th

9th: 37th Gulfstream Park Sprint Championship (G3), 4+, 7f (P5, P3, DD)

Not a flashy group necessarily, but certainly well matched with principals from series of recent assorted events re-assembling. Bahamian Squall is the horse to beat and Fort Loudon may be especially sharp turning back from the 9f SunMill Classic. Mike Welsch explained on ATR that Travelin Man has been shopping for an ALW spot but utilizes this opp instead..

Most Likely: #6 Bahamian Squall 3-1 3rd
Next Best: #5 Fort Loudon 4-1 WON ($9.60)
Exotics Use: #2 Travelin Man 5-2 6th
Super Add: #4 Close It Out 6-1 4th

10th: 68th Suwannee River (G3), F&M-4+, 9f-T/108' (P3, DD)

Not sure the 8-1 isn't cut in half by post time, but Abaco a viable player in midst of progressive form. Closers from outside are regularly good when outer railings are used, but have to be concerned that slick strip doesn't yield to her rallying style..

Most Likely: #4 Hard Not to Like 7-2 5th
Best Value: #8 Abaco 8-1 2nd
Next Best: #5 Channel Lady 5-2 WON ($9.60)
Exotics Use: #1 Inglorious 8-1 3rd

11th: 57th Donn H. (G1) , 4+, 9f (DD)

Even without Fort Larned and Mucho Macho Man, this is a terrific edition of Gulfstream's seasonal centerpiece for elders. There are distinct waves of styles signed on, so all will have the opportunity to 'run their race'. Presser-closers feel more likely than those in the front half of the field with Flat Out distinctly the horse to beat..

Most Likely: #2 Flat Out 3-1 4th
Best Value: #1 Bourbon Courage 8-1 2nd
Next Best: #7 Csaba 4-1 5th
Exotics Use: #9 Pool Play 10-1 6th

12th: MSW, 3yo, 8.5f-T/48' (Super Hi-5)

Best Value: #1 Gentleman's Honor 12-1 9th
Next Best: #2 Kid Lightening 5-1 WON ($9.20)
Exotics Use: #6 Handsome Tiger 6-1 12th
Super Add: #9 Harrythenavigator 8-1 7th
Hi-5 Play: #12 Leader Avenue 10-1 3rd

<$30 P6 Play:

7: 4-5
8: 2-3-4-6
9: 2-5-6
10: 4-5-8
11: 1-2
12: 1-2

2x4x3x3x2x2 = 288 x .10 = $28.80

<$75 P5 Play:

8: 2-3-4-6
9: 2-5-6
10: 1-3-4-5-6-8
11: 2
12: 1-2

4x3x6x1x2 = 144 x .50 = $72

$0.50 Pick 5 (2-5-5-4-2/8/14/15/16) (4 correct) $18.60

<$75 P4 Play:

9: 2-5-6
10: 1-3-4-5-6-8
11: 1-2
12: 1-2-6-9

3x6x2x4 = 144 x .50 = $72

Good luck!
Steve
