Team Simon Thanks
When you own a share in 4 horses racing and 2 of them are running on the same day it is a big deal. Today at Gulfstream our two 5-yr old fillies ran and came in 2nd and 1st. Pennypennypenny ran in the first race and came in 2nd at odds of 50-1. Penny much like her odds today has been a longshot since Chuck Simon bought her at the Timonium yearling auction for $1,000 when no one else wanted her. She won a $30,000 MSW race at Penn National and just when u think it might be over for her she runs a great race today.
A big thanks to Chuck and his staff who do an incredible job for me and partners given the type of horses we are sending him at the lower end of the market. Chuck n he spirit of his mentor The late Mr Jerkins not only takes care of his horses in the best possible way bit also gives chances to stable employees and jockeys. The jock on Penny today was his stable exercise rider who rode her great. The other mare has had a long journey named Pleasantly Miranda who broke her maiden as a 5 yr old. She came in with Penny bought at the same sale at and has had many issues staying healthy not uncommon for horses at this level. It was a great win for us at the lowest possible level. A needed win for owner and Team Simon who need to fight and scrape to pick up checks to make ends meet and pay the bills. We are excited to be running Oklahoma Den on Sunday at the Miesque Stakes with Victor Espinoza riding. After that we are looking to ship him up to Saratoga to get him back to running against NY Breds, very exciting! Killer Bird runs on July 10th after her third place debut last month. Again a big thanks to Team Simon and I can only hope that the stable breaks thru with a big horse real soon that he deserves to have.
