Now, I'm going to take my wonderful dog for a nice walk. Maybe we'll find some trees that will be spared the fate of becoming paper to become one of Sowell's books. I'll take time to talk to the tree. It makes about as much sense. And when my dog lifts his leg, his commentary on Sowell will confirm mine. Long live the trees!!!

Let's take a look at the single paragraph which you so condescendingly denigrate ...

"Most blacks are working people and taxpayers, who are not benefiting from the welfare state programs of the Democrats or from affirmative action. Many live in places where they are more likely than whites to become victims of the violent criminals that liberal judges turn loose and liberal governors pardon."

1. "Most blacks work and pay taxes ... " They most certainly do. Are you asserting that a majority of African Americans don't work and pay taxes?

2. "[Working blacks] are not benefitting from welfare programs or affirmative action ... " They most certainly are not; working people do not ... in fact cannot ... collect welfare. Are you asserting that working blacks are also collecting welfare?

3. "Many [working blacks] live in places where they are more likely to become victims of violent criminals ... " This is patently true; areas with majority black populations suffer from far more crime than other areas ... with the overwhelming percentage of victims being black. Are you asserting that majority black areas have less crime than majority white areas? Or that the crime victims in those areas aren't overwhelmingly black?

4. "Liberal judges turn loose [violent criminals] ... " I would substitute the word "leftist" for "liberal" ... but other than that, this is another patently true statement. Are you asserting that liberal/leftist judges haven't released violent criminals?

5. "Liberal governors pardon [violent criminals] ... " Can you say "Willie Horton"?

If you'd open your mind and expand your horizons ... you'd soon realize how brilliant and insightful Dr. Sowell is ... and ... you might even learn something.
