11/29: Fair Grounds (R7-10)
Any question as to why the P4 is the best bang for your bucks bet in the game was answered Wednesday at Aqueduct. In a series where winners paid $7.90 (3-1; 3rd choice); $5.60 (2-1; favorite ); $16.00 (7-1; 4th choice) and $13.20 (11-2; 3rd choice), a win parley of under $1,200, the Quad came back $7,143.00 for a $2 wager. $7,143.00.
If you are the most basic $1 P4 player and average one $75 per play a day, you can go 0 for 47 and get even on your 48th attempt with an outrageous overlay in the P4 pool like this quartet produced. And obviously over that same period you're liable to hit several more less lucrative '4's'. What made this one remarkable was the fact that the only quirky winner in the skien was Nick Zito's Thunders Dove in the 8th; a result produced in wire to wire fashion as she found herself alone up front when other early speed candidate Lady Limit entirely missed the break. Deep P4 players may very well have taken the possibility of the winner finding herself controlling the pace into account. Fair Grounds enters Week 2, and the Late P4 there looks enticing...
