Default Super Thursday!

UAE.....

Super Thursday contenders limber up

With Super Thursday’s meeting on March 6 fast approaching, many of the expected main protagonists have been working at Nad Al Sheba, with the Mike De Kock-trained pair of Honour Devil and Royal Vintage catching the eye.

First and second in the UAE 2000 Guineas, they both worked on the turf with Johnny Murtagh on Honour Devil, on whom he won the colts’ Classic.

Shortly afterwards, Doug Watson’s Aquino, who will take on the De Kock pair in the Al Bastakiya, worked 800m in 48 seconds, pleasing his handler.

He said: “That was exactly what we wanted, a nice gentle piece of work without over exerting the horse. He disappointed in the Guineas but can hopefully bounce back.”

De Kock’s Asiatic Boy, who won the Al Bastakiya on Super Thursday last year en route to winning the UAE Derby, stretched his legs on the dirt track ahead of his run in the Burj Nahaar, while Lucky Find warmed up for the third round of the Maktoum Challenge.

In that Group 2 race, he will meet Clive Brittain’s Kandidate and Argentina’s Latency, both of whom were out on the track.

Kandidate worked under Ryan Moore under the watchful gaze of his trainer who said: “He is in good form and must go well on Thursday.”

Dubai City of Gold contender Mourilyan worked on the turf under Mick Kinane, shortly after Germany’s Quijano, who will take him on in the 2400m Group 3 race, went past on the dirt.
