If you are/were in small town South and all you know is tobacco, or whatever puts food on your table, I doubt you care much about his views on gays, blacks or much of anything. In fact, you probably heed his message because, well, you don't know differently. But this thread started out as an indictement of what he said and stood for in human terms, and I guess I was surprised that some tried to soften that message of hatred. And the second statement is absolutely correct
