F-T Calder to include private sale results
By Glenye Cain Oakford An hour before its Calder select 2-year-old sale was due to begin in Miami, the Fasig-Tipton Company revealed that it will now include private sales transactions in its sale results. The sales sheets on the sale grounds and online will denote private purchases that take place after the hammer has fallen for horses that failed to reach their sellers' minimum prices. The cut-off time for reporting private transactions will be approximately 15 minutes after the sale, according to chief operating officer Dan Pride, and until then sale results sheets will be updated as information becomes available. "We're doing this to give a more accurate reflection of the business that happens during the sale," Pride said the morning of the auction, which was to start at 11 a.m. at Calder Race Course. Private sales will be denoted by a "PS" and will include buyer and price, Pride said.
