![]() I just realized that the Palomar Breeder's Cup run over the weekend at Del Mar had six Grade I winners in the field. You don't see that too often. Shining Energy, Mea domina, Island Fashion, Star Parade, Sharp Lisa, and Amorama are all Grade I winners.
Not only did the field have six Grade I winners, but every horse in the field was a stakes winner. Eight of the horses were graded stakes winners. Three Degrees is a Grade II winner and ran 2nd in a Grade I. Berbatim is a Grade III winner. That's about as deep of a field as you will ever see. The funny thing is it wasn't even a Grade I race. It was a grade II. It played 10x tougher than the grade I race run earlier in the meet. They ended up setting a new course record but that doesn't mean too much considering how scorched that turf course is right now. Last edited by Rupert Pupkin : 09-05-2006 at 02:55 AM. |
