Derby Weekend Wagering Plans
For the first time in a long time, well since I started following this game and wagering a good 5 or 6 years ago, I am taking it easy on Derby Day. In years past I would take the day off or even take a couple days off around the 1st Saturday in May. Not this year. I am saving my vacation days for Saratoga (I was gonna go to Keeneland but Mother Nature had other plans for the week I planned on going). I would much rather hit the Spa and just plan on heat, humidity, the occasional thunder boomer and all that comes with "The Spa". I've read and heard enough and it's time. Back to my point.
After purchasing a new Cobalt last week and just getting the sense that "I am not gonna lose my tail again" like I have every Derby Day, I think I will just play my 5 horse exacta box in The Derby, a few small wagers in a couple of the races before and just enjoy the day after work (I get off at 1:30pm, plenty of time). Too many Derby Days in the past I have pushed $200, $300 plus thru the windows to now avail. It is one of the toughest cards of the year, so I will limit my wagering to a mere $50, $60, enjoy the afternoon with friends and family (my mom will be home from South Caroline) and just chill. I'll save the blowout Pick 4's, etc etc for my days at "The Spa" while eating some BBQ and enjoying some ice cold bevs responsibly with some of you and everyone else around. Anyone else not feeling "the vibe" this year or am I just showing age? I did just turn 34, halfway to 68 |
