http://blog.timesunion.com/horseraci...r-dublin/3278/ Jockey Jamie Theriot found out the hard way that winning a Grade I at Saratoga is no guarantee of staying on the horse. Theriot is being taken off Dublin, who won the Grade I Hopeful for 2-year-olds at Saratoga on Sept. 7. Dublin, a son of Afleet Alex, is scheduled to run again in the Grade I Champagne at Belmont Park on Oct. 10. “The owners said they wanted a New York rider,” said Fred Aime, agent for the Kentucky-based Theriot. “So we have to live by their decision. We were available and anxious and ready to ride the horse back, but that’s what I was told.” Dublin is owned by Robert Baker and William Mack, who apparently want a jockey more familiar with the Belmont track. It wasn’t immediately clear who will replace Theriot. NT Last edited by Kasept : 10-01-2009 at 12:04 PM. |
