The carryover at Belmont swelled to more than $160,000 Wednesday when Jimmy Ferraro's Salt and Pepper spiced up the P6 stew at $77. The sextet Thursday is torturous with five turf events no less than four maiden events (2 claiming, 2 specials), with one of each featured for state breds. A third carry would not be a surprise given the full fields...
The weekend kicks off Friday night with big stakes at Hoosier (Oaks) and Meadowlands (Pegasus) as well as the opening of Keeneland's fall meet. That card features a quality edition of the 1.5 mile Sycamore (Gr. III), and an incredible gathering of juvy fillies in the Gr. II Alcibiades. Saturday is Gold Cup Day at Belmont with 5 Gr. I stakes lined up, and Hoosier's biggest 48 hours caps the day with the $500,000 Indiana Derby.
