Bookmaker ejections

How uncommon have these become? I've heard of only one instance of this in the last several years.

I was shocked when I read the following ...

In the first 97 days of the 1946 New York racing season - 406 bookmakers - or suspected bookmakers were ejected

I'm pretty sure I could put up a sign saying "DrugS-Fair" in the Presque Isle clubhouse - and start my own on-track betting exchange and nothing would be made of it forever. And by pretty sure, I mean 100% sure.
