Thought on the BC...the morning after
A lot of this may been gone over, but...
Even though DREAMING OF ANNA dominated her class, this bunch of two year old fillies may be the mirror image of this year's three year old class next year. While watching Pletcher's duo in the Juvenile, I lost track of my longshot pick STREET SENSE The seas part for him and up the rail he goes to a smashing victory. Will the Juvy Jinx continue next year...most likely it will. OUIJA BOARD flat out the best older filly or mare the past three years. For her to knock heads with grade I competition on both sides of the ocean and versus the boys at that is nothing short of sensational. The Sprint is the Sprint, unless you are a superstar going less than a mile...the winner of this race at an upset is always forgotten. The best milers in Europe??? The old boy showed him who's boss! M.A. should be champion turf horse of the year because of his record alone. The Distaff unfortunately put a damper on the day, this will over shadow the race. RIP PINE ISLAND The Euros bounce back in the Turf, so much for the CACIQUE / ENGLISH CHANNEL rivally. My good friend Nick Kling said it best; the only horse could beat BERNARDINI was the top older horse he didn't face yet! INVASOR gets the job done and HOTY honors. DISCREET CAT...waits in the wings! All in all an interesting day; some nice prices, but again the tragedy in the Distaff when the sport is front and center on national TV. will hurt this sport.
