Somewhere out there I will be on Japanese TV
Only in New York anecdote from today-- my riding buddy and I booked a ride in Central Park this morning before we went to work. When I arrived at the stable (late, thanks to a sick passenger on a train that stopped subway traffic on the downtown side) I discovered a crew from (I assume) a Japanese television station were there to do a segment on recreation in NYC and my friend had volunteered us for a piece on horseback riding in the city. So, we set off on our ride and at various points on the trip, boom, there was a camera, filming us. It was a hoot. They interviewed me afterwards, which has left me traumatized, as I had on no makeup and have a new, bright red pimple on my nose.
I was on an old mare named Nelly, who is a poky poky in the ring, but the woman at the desk told me she was a whole different animal outside-- and she wasn't kidding. As soon as Nelly realized we were going to the Park, vrrrooooooommmmmm. Pretty neat. She was very snappish before the ride and very affectionate afterwards, so I guess she had a good morning, too. Maybe she likes being on camera. It was a glorious day for a ride-- cool, breezy and the leaves are all changing color. Just the day to make riding in NYC look like more fun than anything ever. Which it often is, at least for me. |
