Default Men Smarter Than Women?

I can't find original article on this but it is interesting and you get the point. Basically based on most test scores and multiple studies over the years men have about a 3.6 point advantage over women in IQ. Now here's the rub.

"Women are actually superior to men, on average, in conscientiousness," said Rushton. "Women do better than men in university, and in many jobs because they're more reliable. They do their homework, and they show up on time. They're probably more socially intelligent than men."

The fact is emotional intelligence may well be more important than any general IQ test. In fact I think it is. Generally speaking the difference in IQ is related to math scores. This makes sense in some ways do to evolution if nothing else. In hunter/gatherer societies geometry and depth perception was utilized more by men. Emotional intelligence and social ability was better in women and always has been.

As a teacher, I see girls consistently do better than boys in school. In fact, it isn't even close. Many colleges need to actively recruit boys or else their demographics are skewed. Girls work harder and are more succesful. Why, I think behavior has something to do with it. I think boys would benefit from being taught in all boy classes. Girls have done better in math when taught in all girl classes.

I believe in the future women will take over leadership postitions at a increased rate throughout the business community. Most millionaires average IQs, take sports out of it, is just 1200 on the SATs. Some of the smartest people I know can't do much of anything. Philosophy degress enable you to deliver pizzas and little else. And that's what a friend who got a full ride to Stanford for his Phd will find out.

Very interesting topic. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it, from both camps. Randall
