Adam Silver is going to need to come up something creative because 1/3 of the league is either tanking outright or just not trying very hard. The draft despite some talk to the contrary is very deep and a lot of teams will get really good players to build around but there is some truth in that very few will be impact players right off the bat. The you look at the Free Agent class for the coming year and you see very few players that will move the dial for some of these bad teams. RFA's are rarely lost to the teams that currently have them, a lot of the older UFA's arent going anywhere and there are virtually no other impact players available on the open market.
Carmelo Anthony isnt going to bad team Lebron isnt going to a bad team Dirk isnt going to a bad team Evan Turner hardly made an impact on a terrible team where he had pretty much a free hand Gordon Hayward is likely to resign in Utah but isnt a star player by any means Deng is a nice player but he hasnt exactly lit the world up in Cleveland and the Bulls havent missed a beat without him Greg Monroe might be available in a sign and trade but he is more of a nice player than a star Bosh isnt going anywhere unless Miami has some sort of other plan in mind. Even then he'd likely go to Dallas which is a team that is trying Bledsoe is a lock to stay in PHX Wade isnt going anywhere Pau Gasol is a good player but is slipping and probably doesnt want to go to a rebuilding team Lance Stevenson is most likely staying in Indy and isnt a great fit on a bad team Kyle Lowery is a good player but isnt making anyone 10 games better Shawn Marion and Paul Pierce have forks ready Spencer Hawes? Rodney Stuckey? Gortat is going to stay in Wash Granger is a shell Chalmers and Ray Allen are probably staying and arent stars Nick Young? Trevor Ariza? |
