Saratoga Sunday Aug. 17
Don’t have time for a full write-up today, so I’m going Steve & Gus ™ style.
Race 1: #9 Queen’s Parade: Good 2nd behind Cat’s Claw two back. Didn’t seem to be as effective on wet but still a good performance last time. #3 Sally Brown: Sib to two hurdle winners for same outfit. Maybe she belongs there too, but distance not a concern. #8 Storm Now: Brought as a shipping mate for runner in G1, but competitive herself on return to turf. #2 Antrim Colleen: Feel like she had her chances to win two and three back. Another that may prefer firm, but she seems a money burner. Race 2: #2 Go Olivia Go: Got accustomed to SAR last time and can go better here. Rajiv is world-class in this field. #5 Rettalfa: In good form off a win and can repeat. #4 Love to Score: Has run best without the shades and this is easier. #7 Lady Vivien: Cali shipper finds a weak East Coast field. Race 3: #9 Tammy the Torpedo: Chad on fire with these types lately. All over the 6-1 ML. P5 single. #1 Sweet Maya: These conditions will suit more than last and Dilger is starting to get it going. #7 Cool Comfort: Can hang on for a share. #4 Carta de Oro: May need one. Race 4: #4 House Rules: Seems like Jerkens can win a race he doesn’t even have a horse in at the moment. Talk about class relief. Not sure what the deal with the turf work is. Could be a single but I’ll cover just in case. #5 Another Incident: Much the best last time, but Bravo was very lucky that day. You never know with the way he’s been riding… #3 Madaket Millie: May hook into a duel with #7 #6 Julie Napp: Wasn’t ridden very aggressively in the stretch last time and can see a performance like the maiden breaker again today. Dangerous at odds if that occurs. Race 5: #7 Back Flip: Quick works. Super Saver. Pletcher’s only got one in here. Primed for debut. #3 Top Decile: Stall can win with them young and he’s got this one flying in the AM recently. #8 Nagzilla: Speightstown FTS with some rapid moves. Kenneally and Leparoux not having great meets. #5 So It’s True: Expecting a much better run here. Race 6: #9 Billy the Bull: Needed the last off the brief layoff. Will run much better here and may be forgotten on the toteboard. Race 7: #4 Lemon Song: Wasn’t disgraced in his try for this tag three back. Two quick moves and I expect an improvement with the return to Franco. Sciacca to strike here and make for a fantastic weekend. #9 Poor Etiquette: Mile will suit better and Violette dangerous third off a layoff. #3 Ready’s Legend: Hasn’t shown anything for Pletcher, but this is the easiest spot so far. #8 Chow Fun: Respect the two wins, but these aren’t NY-breds. Race 8: Really an ALL race, but that made it too pricey. Race 9: #4 Easter Gift: Ignore the MTH tough trip. 4yo form kills these. #2 Dawly: Short and didn’t handle the MTH surface. Rudy’s got him ready for this. #1 Alpha: Inconsistent. Missed work. Overrated. Race 10: #3 Amira’s Prince: Wasn’t right at BEL. Freshened and ready for the upset. #5 Imagining: Bounced off the big G1 score. Given time off. Don’t discount Shug. #2 Perfect Timber: Hasn’t run well shipping before, but is still a neck away from being a G1 winner and Castellano is riding like a madman these days. #4 may regress off a huge win with a missed work. #7 has never beaten this class, on recent form would prefer Abel riding. Race 11: #7 King of Bay: Finally gets on the turf. Trombetta can break his duck here. #3 Breakeven Analysis: Chad will have him fired up off the long layoff. #2 Jimmy Fillpot: Improved with the blinkers, and can continue the rise here. #8 Mambo At the Gym: Ran better than it seems last time. Scorched around the dogs on the 4th. #10 Day Six: Turnback will suit this third time starter. $0.60 Pick Five Race 1: 3, 8, 9 Race 2: 2, 4, 5, 7 Race 3: 9 Race 4: 3, 4, 5, 6 Race 5: 3, 5, 7 $86.40 $0.60 Early Pick Four Race 2: 2, 4, 5, 7 Race 3: 1, 9 Race 4: 3, 4, 5, 6 Race 5: 3, 5, 7, 8 $76.80 $0.60 Late Pick Four Race 8: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 Race 9: 2, 4 Race 10: 2, 3, 5 Race 11: 2, 3, 7, 8, 10 $108.00 Good luck! |
