Default The Solyndra program, several years later...

I know Solyndra was one of the right-wing's favorite shouting points (it was brought up on this very forum several times. The hive mind is strong) but this is a piece about the long term outcome of the program that lent it money.

TLR- Despite some bad bankruptcies, like Solyndra, the program will get its money back and then some for the taxpayers. And do more long term good than the bank bailouts, most likely.

One thing the author ignores and likely on purpose rather than ignorance is the subsidies paid out by the Federal Government specific to renewable energy that comes to roughly $16 billion per year. So while the $34 billion loan program since 2005 is in the black as of 2012 and expecting interest payments of $5-$6 billion per year to continue until 2022; without eliminating the subsidies we'll be losing $10-$11 billion per year until 2022 and $16 billion per year after that.

Imagine what would happen if say McDonald's stated anticipated profits of $5-$6 billion per year to shareholders and the SEC on a new all-heart healthy menu and left out they planned to print $16 billion in coupons per year.
