About $2.75 million transferred from five-time major golf champion Phil Mickelson to an intermediary was laundered in an illegal sports betting operation, ESPN reported Monday, noting Mickelson has not been charged

Not a fan for sure, but it's his money. Can't understand how he has broken the law. And they can't seem to either.

How does this compare to insider trading where the broker and investor are both guilty ?

I guess insider trading would involve victims (stockholders) and plain betting would not.

Ancient news. A local sports-talk host broke this years ago - he didn't fill in details, but said there would be a big story at some point regarding Mickelson and gambling.

It's all much ado about nothing - if he were guilty of anything they would have strung him up a long time ago.
