It's hard to believe how far this race has fallen in stature. It seems that each year it gets worse. Long gone are the days when horses like Sunday Silence or Alysheba showed up. It's not even attracting horses who are going to make some noise down the road, like a Blame. From what I understand, the casino side of the racino isn't doing that well either.

Yes, this race continues its decline from Grade 1 glory years. Had nice uptick several years back. To LaD's credit, it did attempt to develop 2YO turf races as Breeders Cup preps during last 7-8 years. These once $150k races have fallen to $75k level having never gained Grade 3 status.

Harrah's Louisiana Downs is one of Caesars Entertainment's bankrupt properties. It appears that very little has been done to market Super Derby and its undercard this year. Last year, Rosie Napravnick rode a Ramsey horse in nearly every stakes race. Biggest decline indicator for me? Not one single 'Little Al' Stall entry in any stakes race tomorrow.

I'm in Bossier City now and will still enjoy a day at good old Ell-A-Dee tomorrow.

Fabulous late summer weather today and lots of chalky racing. Personal treat was annual meet-and-greet with NTamm1215. Always great horse racing conversations. Added bonus, met @utbighair, Jonathan Kinchen.

Weak, slow Super Derby field will likely drop LaD's lone graded race from G2 to G3. Next stop, Delta Jackpot in November.

If lad wants the super derby to be a draw, they have to raise the purse...at least double what it is
