SAT - Gulfstream Park (R1-R11)
Gulfstream Park Happy New Year's Eve - Solid card on tap for the final day of the year, which features the traditional Tropical Park Derby and Oaks. Hard to believe it's been 11 years since Barbaro won the Tropical Park Derby (Turf 9F January 1, 2006) and went on to Kentucky Derby Glory. A strong field has assembled for this year's edition. Once again the highly anticipated Rainbow 6 carryover was taken down the day before the mandatory payout ($500k).
POST SCRATCHES - FAST / FIRM R1 - Clm 6.25k N2L #4 Godiva's Limousine (8-1) #5 Menehune (5-2) #3 Nacho Giant (10-1) #2 Magnanimouse Mine (3-1) R2 - MSW 42k (Turf 7.5F) #1 Convict Pike (7-2) #4 Red King (6-1) #11 Benevolent Prince (4-1) #7 Krampus (8-1) R3 -Md 50k #4 Sal's Jet (7-2) #2 Woodrow (2-1) #5 Facade (8-1) #9 All Hansens Ondeck (4-1) R4 - Md 12.5k - #1 Temo Dreams On (10-1) #10 Mikes Muscle Man (7-5) #6 Big Twist (6-1) #9 Rosebud's High (8-1) R5 - MSW 42k - Tough to separate both 1sters for Zayat/Mott as they have almost identical works, but Pletcher's 2nd time starter (#7 Battalion Runner) has the edge with a race under his belt. #7 Battalion Runner (6-5) #5 Pollack (4-1) #1 Factorial (5-1) #6 Mongolian Greywolf (20-1) PK5 - 2 3 4 5 7 8 / 1 4 7 11 / 2 4 / 1 10 / 7 =$48 for $.50 PK4 - 1 4 7 11 / 2 4 / 1 6 10 / 1 5 7 = $36 for $.50 R6 - MSW 42k (Turf 7.5F) #3 Pagliacci (10-1) #12 Risky Town (7-2) #2 Zorzor (4-1) #4 Slaimy (5-2) R7 - Tropical Park Derby 75k (Turf 8.5F) #1 J R 's Holiday (20-1) - Has won twice off a layoff and looks to get a nice cozy inside trip on his favorite turf course. Upset possibilty. #8 Inspector Lynley (4-1) - G3 winner is as consistent as they come and another strong run is expected. #9 Oscar Nominated (3-1) - Should be forwardly placed throughout and has faced division's best on several ocassions. #10 Giant Run (15-1) - Gets back on a firm course and would be no surprise to get it done here. R8 - OC 25k/N1X (Turf 7.5F) #2 Moon Over Paris (5-1) - BEST BET -Initial So Fla start might of been too long for her liking and this race should fit her much better. #10 Spinning Wheel (10-1) - Both turf tries have been strong and her early speed will help her get position early. #6 Lyrical Moment (8-1) - These types of Pletcher runners seem to blossum when they come down to Florida. #11 Chiringuita (10-1) - Strong string of works for U.S. debut with 1st time lasix. R9 - Via Borghese 75k (Turf 9.5F) #7 Trophee (Fr) (5-1) - Freshened up for high % barn and works indicate she's ready. #12 Happyness (GB) (3-1) - Took both races in New York at odds on and she looks to have some graded stakes in the future. #4 Desiree Clary (Ger) (4-1) - Another Clement with a big chance after some solid efforts this year. #3 Bitty Kitty (20-1) - She's capable of firing a big one and Lanarie should save some ground. R10 - H. Allen Jerkens 100k (Turf 16F) #3 Taghleeb (3-1) - Seems to want to run all day and this is the perfect race for that. Brings some back class as well. #9 Hunter O'Riley (8-1) - Expect Johnny V to be patient throughout and save something down the stretch. #10 Generous Kitten (4-1) - Leparoux will need to have him within striking distance as they turn for home. Closer. #5 Indebted (15-1) - Probably the speed of the race and he could get brave if left unattended at a juicy price. R11 - Tropical Park Oaks 75k (Turf 8.5F) #2 Try Your Luck (3-1) - This might be the preferred distance and has shown serious quality throughout the year. #11 Island Reward (9-2) - Will need to use her early speed and that was a sharp win 1st out for Brown in most recent. #4 Gypsy Eyes (Ire) (8-1) - Both local wins have been impressive and draws well for her style. #6 Family Meeting (15-1) - Not sure there's enough speed to set it for her, but expecting a late run regardless. PK5 - 1 6 8 9 10 12 / 2 / 3 4 7 12 / 3 9 / 2 11 = $48 for $.50 PK4 - 2 6 10 11 / 3 4 7 12 / 3 9 / 2 4 11 =$48 for $.50 Good Racing Luck
