![]() I don't know whether it's just me, but Post Time at GP seems to now be something other than it has been for my lifetime. I see MTP=0 and the horses and riders are just standing there. This goes on for usually 8 minutes.
Used to be races ran on time, except if there was a problem. The carryovers have led to tracks bleeding the pool for the Pick 6, which is understandable. However, now it's every race at GP. The horses, riders, outriders and gate crew are just standing and staring. I don't like this way of operating. If you want to add some time to the post, change the MTP number, make an announcement and put something on the screen that says "Postime changed from 4:03 to 4:08.". Otherwise the people don't know what you are doing and what you are going to do. When people don't know what you are going to do, they don't trust you. I heard people at the OTB saying they were letting their friends bet during the delay. That's not the case, but people will think that. Then they see the odds change during the race and they think it's all rigged. This is all small stuff that is bad PR. And, easily correctable. |

![]() I agree.. it's a bad way of operating.. and the past posting at GP has went on for years and remains a problem IMO.
I'd never make a win bet there on anything below 5:1 |

![]() It's annoying but you know it's coming (they are coming back from the replays of the previous race and then the commercial and it's already just "11" MTP).
In New York, for example, a 2:20 post means you better have your bet in by 2:19. But everyone knows that too. Gulfstream could change if they wanted to - it would take one weekend of recognizing their actual post times and the problem would go away. They choose not to, which is their right, and again, we all know what the deal is. (edit - should add...they probably think they make a lot more money by doing it this way but I just think it's the way they trained their players.) Maybe I am wrong about this but I feel it gets a bit worse now that the days are longer and they don't have to rush to beat sunset. It won't be as bad for the Pegasus, and I guess their Derby preps if they are on TV (not TVG but NBC or NBCSN). Last edited by Jasper131 : 01-18-2017 at 09:44 AM. |

![]() Tampa also now running late posts . Ridiculous for each race, but useful for p4 /p5 starters race.

![]() It is a bad thing because you never know exactly when the race is going to go off and therefore you have a much harder time trying to time placing a bet to get odds that you believe are favorable. There is nothing worse than having a horse sitting at odds you believe to be overlayed only to watch the odds plummet in the last seconds.
What GP has been doing for sometime now is ridiculous, it is often five or more minutes after it hits 0 MTP before they actually get the race off. It is bad enough to watch odds change significantly after a race goes off which is understandable as many pools are combined a few seconds after the race but to never accurately know when a race is going to go off is inexcusable. Is it really too much to ask a racetrack to post accurate minutes to post? |

Also, Steve talked about it on his show a few weeks ago. He made a great point that if you're playing/watching multiple tracks from home you never know when to switch your video feed over. It's just annoying, inconsiderate and unnecessary. |

![]() Green Gratto on Monday was similar. But yes, it is so much more rare in NY.

![]() Another X-factor is signal latency. In the new age of streaming, you have to watch timing. It's not 9 minutes like the GP posts, but it can be a bit. I can be watching TVG and TVG2 and then getting TVG on the internet, then the NYRA app and all of it is off. This is an issue that could also cloud bettor confidence.

![]() Green Gratto going of at 5/2 was a result of the other speed in the race scratching and the bias that was going on at the Big A.

![]() It's clear that Post Time is merely a suggestion. Gives everyone plenty of time to order a Mojito or a Caipirinha at the Tiki Bar on the track apron at the eighth pole before placing a bet. Notice how horses always wait in front of the Tiki Bar for 2 turn races.

![]() They use post times like a dog track uses post times. I know it drives me crazy.
TVG has the real post times so when I'm watching them it's easier. Yesterday the official post time of the last race was down to 0 and TVG said the race would go off in 7 minutes and that's exactly what happened |

![]() Noticed the same thing. Getting very, very annoying. It's almost as if the shot callers of horse racing think they can alienate their base and be ok. Problem is the base is all they have. Then when the base is trying to get others involved in horse racing, it's tough to justify this nonsense. People don't want to wait and wait for one race. This isn't the 80's.
