Default Sep 29 Card . . .

I'm thinking about an all stakes race card. All with BC "win and your in" prizes except for one race.

Belmont: Jockey Club Gold Cup G1, Vosburg G1,. Joe Hirsch G1, Pilgrim G3

Santa Anita: American Pharoah, Awesome Again, Chandelier, Rodeo Drive all G1

That's an 8 race card and a good early prep for the Gallivan Cup contest. Thoughts?

That's a splendid choice, Don Guido. With the BC rapidly approaching, every bit of preparation will help. Even though the Pilgrim isn't a "Win and You're In" race, there are always several horses coming out of the Pilgrim in the Juvenile Fillies Turf.

By the way, NBCSC has two hours of TV coverage on Saturday, starting at 7:00 PM Eastern. I suspect they will cover most of the SA stakes races live and have replays of the Belmont Grade 1's.

I looked back at last years cards and we did the same thing (I picked it then too) to play the Belmont-SA all stakes card. Interesting but then again not so, since it's such an obvious choice this time of year. BTW - Ryonker won the all stakes card points contest last year.

Where is Ryonker anyway???

Not sure what happened to him. He used to post on the DT Race of the Day Contest a lot and various contest sites like the Remington Park Enduro Contest and of course here, but haven't seen anything from him in awhile.

Entries were drawn today for both tracks.
The particulars for the races Don designated are as follows:

Belmont
Race 7 - Vosburgh (4:03 Eastern)
Race 8 - Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (4:42 Eastern)
Race 9 - Pilgrim S. (5:16 Eastern)
Race 10 - Jockey Club Gold Cup (5:50 Eastern)

Santa Anita
Race 6 - American Pharoah (5:30 Eastern)
Race 9 - Chandelier (7:00 Eastern)
Race 10 - Rodeo Drive (7:30 Eastern)
Race 11 - Awesome Again (8:00 Eastern)

I would propose that our race order should be all of the Belmont races in sequence and then all of the Santa Anita races in sequence. I think that minimizes any confusion.

The smallish fields for some of the Santa Anita races is a little disappointing, but they should still be very competitive with an entry to the BC on the line.

Hey RQ, do you think that the Belmont stakes races will all be part of the Grand Slam?

I haven't hit a Grand Salami in a loooooong time. Think I'll try it but I need a trip to the batting cages to get the rust off first!?

DRF shows the Vosburg post time of 4:09. But 4:03 would be OK for your picks and wagers.

Are you all trying to kill me?

Hmmm....have to admit the late afternoon start time, TBH.

Well, you all know I will go with the flow. Grateful it's not done very often.

And I, too, miss Ron. Happy that I was able to meet him and his son one year at Churchill. Super nice guy.

Just want to say that I'm in Europe for a month so I'll be out for a while.

But I should be back before the BC. Take care, everybody.

Hope that you have a wonderful time and a safe journey.

Depending upon where you are going, wine festivals abound this time of year.

What a dedicated horse player that NJ Stinks is! Going all the way to Europe to scope out those foreign Breeders Cup Turf Runners. At the William Hill book his Gallivan Cup odds are dropping like flies.
