BC Weeks Capping the Cappers . . . and the wager right here
Top Ten Going for the Cup with odds for capping the cappers . . .
1. JolyB 3-1 . . . he's one of the very best if not the best but can be vulnerable if he thinks too much 2. Ruffian 4-1 . . . totally a mystery on picks and odds but she's very, very good overlook her and she'll Ruff you up 3. DonGudio 5-1 . . . not his best year but he shows up well on BIG Days . . . always in the hunt 4. Real Quiet 5-1 . . . right there with DG, sneaky good, hard to beat when on and can not be so REAL QUIET 5. Plenilune 7-1 . . . she's a lightly colored dark horse that's bright as a winner can be, wiseguy play for sure 6. Cruzan 8-1 . . . he can surprise you when you least expect it, nice long shot play, unconventionally good 7. Roamin 12-1 . . . don't sell him short or he'll bite ya where it hurts, in the pocketbook 8. NJ Stinks 15-1 . . . not a regular but knows more about the game than maybe us all put together 9. Cal828 8-1 . . . watch out, scarily unknown, this is the real wiseguy play and only played small part of the year 10. Indian Hemp 15-1 . . . another in and out player that can go get it and right there with NJ's knowledge You have $100 to place win bets only on up to 4 players or just 1 or 2 or 3.. After the wagers, JB will set the real mathematical odds.

Don Guido, as always you have done a superb job in your analysis of capping the cappers. Alas, you nailed me dead on - I've always had a tendency to overprepare. It has held me in good stead for things like bar exams, transactional closings and as a seminar panelist, but has been the kiss of death in my capping of the BC. By now, I think I could give you a reason why each of the entrants in the Classic could win, and another reason why each of them could likely get beaten. That doesn't help the decision making process very much.
I'll be glad to compute the actual odds and will pays after all the entries have been submitted (which I assume will be not later than post time for the first BC race on Friday). It has always amazed me just how differently our players predict the Cup winner from the qualifying point standings. |

Yes JB, I'm just the opposite but we have worked professionally in two different worlds. I have to force myself to be more analytical and detailed . . . not easy for a free wheeling architect at heart but I have learned over the years. Handicapping, picking winners, exactas, trifectas is by far the most challenging experience my artistic brain has endured. And as a relative newcomer in all this for around 17/18 years, I'm thinking it does keep the electrical impulses of my brain well connected even though my thought process is often out of wack.
Back to business to all: Please have all your cap the cappers wagers in before the first race on Friday, 3:21 eastern. Thank you!!!

My first inclination was to place $50 win on NJ Stinks and Indian Hemp cause I think they have a good handle on the Euro's. But they don't play points all that often. I'm hoping the Breeders Cup brings them both out but at the risk of being "Scratched" out of the Cappers Contest I'll go with
$50 Win on Plenilune $25 Win on NJ Stinks $25 Win on Indiana Hemp

$25 Win Real Quiet - Won this last year I think and seems Real Likely to win again, plus he did Real Well in the Saratoga Contest so I know he is for Real.
$25 Win JolyB-Very consistent. I think the term for horses that are always in the money is "honest." I think this applies to JolyB. $25 Win Cruzan-Longshot picker can pick 'em with regularity. $25 Win Roamin-Love the fact that he always goes "all in." If he hits, it's going to be a ginormous win. |

Post time odds and will pays will be posted shortly after the window closes. Remember that in Don Guido's emporium there is NO TAKEOUT and (if I can calculate it correctly) NO BREAKAGE.

We had a total of 8 participants and $800 in the pool. The bettors made Real Quiet the overwhelming favorite, no doubt because he is the Real Deal.
Here are the will pays on a $1.00 wager for all of the entrants: Real Quiet 4.44 Ruffian 8.00 Cruzan 8.00 JolyB 8.00 NJ Stinks 10.66 Plenilune 12.31 Cal 828 14.55 Roamin 16.00 Don Guido 16.00 Indian Hemp 32.00 Good luck to all. Please let me know if you spot any errors in my calculations. |
