Default Oaks Day Spot Plays

2nd- #6 Seaside Retreat- so my feeling here is Shug didn’t ship here for nothing. Has run well and comes out of a live race, adds blinkers and steady works since end of January. I think she falls into a good trip and is best here.

4th- #3 Illiogami- I was really impressed with her last. She really got going late and somehow got up. Should get pace to run at with the 1, 7 and 10 hopefully setting it up for her big late run.

6th- I love #5 Roadster in here. 2nd off the long break and back in Baffert’s barn. Appears to be alone on the lead and this is the kind of race Irad steals. I respect Maxfield but he was dull last out and I wonder he can bounce back. I’d rather take the price and expect a big run from Roadster.

7th- #1 Postnup- if Aunt Pearl is the same filly she was last year they are all running for second. But who wants 3/5 off the layoff. Brad Cox will probably have his magic working this weekend and I’ll use her but I’d rather take a filly with a decency advantage who appears to be getting good at the right time. Doesn’t hurt Irad takes the call and she should be able to sit a nice trip covered up behind the favorite and get first run. Runner up to her in last ran a bang up me here Tuesday. Using 1,2,6 in pick 5.

8th- #7 Finite- I’m against Shedaresthedevil here and maybe it costs me the pick 5, but I think the key to her not winning is Envoutante. She has to be sent which I think makes the favorites job that much harder. I like Finite because I think she can get back to what she does best, which is making one run. 3 for 3 over this track and I think she might surprise them. Using 1,3,7 in pick 5.

9th- #3 Souper Sensational- maybe it was competition and/or surface but she was very good in her two races at 7 furlongs last year. Had an excuse two back and tired late last time going too far. Love the cutback and she should work out a good trip in the 2nd flight behind the speed. She normally works fast but has really turned it up in last few. Using 3,6,7,9,12 in pick 5

10th- #3 Fiya- one of the more exciting horses in training, as he burst into the scene last year with 5 straight impressive runs. He hasn’t raced since December, but with as conservative as Tom Albertrani is, have to think he’s doing well or he wouldn’t be here. Showed he can rate if need be two back, but I think he pops out and runs them off their feet. Singling in the pick 5.

11th- #3 Clairiere- Is my third strongest opinion of the day behind Fiya and Roadster. Had no shot last time the way the race unfolded and was done no favors with that anchor on her back. Should get pace, has run well at Churchill and I think the extra 1/16th helps her more so than some of the others. Leaning heavily on her but will also have 6,10 and 12 on my tickets. Also going to include Will’s Secret in exotics as I think she can be in exacta or tri and a huge price but might not be good enough to win.

Good luck.

I’m with you on taking a shot against Maxfield and am going to use Roadster, Chess Chief, and Visitant (who I think will send from the rail.)

Here's a few I like today...you should probably avoid these at all costs as I've been cold lately. Very cold

R6: #5 Roadster - wire to wire

R7: #2 Gift List - always shows up

R9: #11 Abrogate - class test today, but she's a brawler

R11: #1 Pauline's Pearl - improving, lays close from the rail behind tepid pace

Good luck today, and please don't laugh too hard at me, k?

I know you don't like him, but, Leparoux seems to be on a few live horses.
3 starters out of 7 races with 1each WPS.
