Jamarcus Russell is a wonderful talent. But my God... he can't form a literate sentence.

Happens every year. If ND can hold on and not lose more than 2 games, they are automatically in. That's the reason I hope they lose every week.

Is that name short for James Marcus Russell?Too damn bulky(they just went with the more simple name...JAMARCUS.) If you are named Steven Bryan whatever, then just clean that up too....STEBRY,or STEBRYAN.

Good story for LSU! I'm liking Miles approach. Too much speed for the Irish...on both sides of the ball. Russell has the strongest arm I've ever seen....be interesting to see if he comes back!

If the game was in South Bend, Notre Dame would have won, LOL!
Its always a good day when Notre Dame embarasses themselves on National TV. They clearly didnt belong in that bowl game.

Yes, that was an butt kicking last night. It pretty much was a disgrace. Wisconsin should have been in that game and not ND. In order for Notre Dame to automatically be in a BCS game, ND must finish in the top 8 of the final BCS standings. This provision is how ND got into the sugar bowl--source is from the BCS web site.

7. If any slots remain unfilled after the placement of all teams qualifying for an automatic berth, then the bowls shall choose their participants from the "pool of eligible teams" (see below.)

If berths are available after the automatic qualifiers have been identified, then the bowls shall select at-large participants from the "pool of eligible teams," which shall include any Division I-A team that is bowl-eligible and meets the following requirements:
A. Has won at least nine regular-season games, not including exempted games, and
B. Is among the top 14 teams in the final BCS Standings

Basically, the Sugar Bowl said hmmm......Notre Dame sells tickets and buys crap so we will choose them over Wisconsin. It is a bunch of crap.

Eurobounce the rule is only 2 teams from any conference can get a BCS game, so Wisconsin was excluded on that rule, as was Auburn. Wisconsin was a nasty team and totally deserved that spot.

That left WVU and Rutgers as two possibilities, and of course, the hype machine took Notre Dame. What a bunch of BS. Notre Dame would have finished 4th in the Big East this year.

I read on the Foxsports website someone wrote "well if ND's opponents had the same academic standards as we do they would have just as tough a time"... no offense to ND, as I think it is fine academic institution, but why don't we compare Notre Dame to it's opponents on difficulty of admissions:

Georgia Tech: equal.
Penn State: equal.
Michigan: Michigan.
Michigan State: Notre Dame.
Purdue: close, but I'll say Notre Dame.
Stanford: Stanford.
UCLA: UCLA.
Navy: Navy.
UNC: probably UNC, but I'll say equal.
Air Force: don't know.
Army: Army.
USC: equal

Don't put yourself on a pedestal unless you expect to get knocked down.

Agreed, Euro. Notre Dame has got to be the most ridiculously overrated college team ever. The only thing at ND that is better than LSU is their band. Their band did an excellent job (especially half time.)

ESPN reported it as Wisconsin took an early invite to the Capital One bowl, as they knew they were going to finish 3rd in the Big Ten even though they finished like 6th in the BCS standings and should have been an at-large selection to the BCS by all rights.

They finished 6th--but I still can't find where only two teams can go. Maybe they took the invite because they knew they wouldnt be an at-large bid because of Notre Dame qualifying. Or maybe, it is more of a gentlemans agreement that the BCS doesnt take a 3rd team from a conference for an at large. I don't know. I agree with you that Wisconsin got hosed.

Thumbs up Notre Dame

I guess now we could call Notre Dame an even bigger bowl loser or all time bowl game loser. Maybe if they had played ARMY, NAVY, or AIR FORCE they would have won. Some observations from the game:

SAMARDZIJA- Loved your behavior last night, great way to represent the team and university. Lucky he didn't get his rear end kicked in.

QUINN-Nice way to end a career for a Heisman wannabe. Still cant perform when he plays against a real team.

WEISS-Nice call on that 4TH and less than a yard in your own territory in the beginning of the game. This proves the theory of why his team can't win against a top ten team, let allow getting thier @sses handed to them in thier yearly bowl game or is it massacre? Another reason why he is OVERHYPED as a coach. Big difference in being an assistant in the NFL and a head coach in college.

Hope you read this all you leprechaun fans.

Just proves every year that they are OVERATED and OVER-HYPED.

Wisconsin was the worst 12-1 team in recent memory. They were completely outplayed by Arkansas and still won mostly due to Arkansas bad habit of imploding whenever they got close to the goalline.

this is correct. The opening line was 7 and it moved as high as 9.5 before value shoppers and the foolish public bought the irish down to 8 to 8.5.

Make no mistake about it. When there is a two point line shift toward the favorite and the favorite covers, the house gets murdered.

Smart money was all over this one and the books did indeed got killed.

Just read an intersting book about such things. Its called "The Smart Money" by Micheal Konik.
