![]() Oaklawn sprung a few upsets on Saturday and it wasn't one of our better scoring days but 3
players hit the board and 5 tickets were cashed. Zippy and Eclipse visited the cashiers window but it wasn't enough to crack the break even point. Digger takes the show spot by cashing his ticket in race 1 on Choctaw Charlie and finished up $40. Cruzan takes second place by nailing the longshot Rated R Suoerstar in the 9th. The $18.60 payoff on the late closing 9 year old returned to Cruzan $232.50 and a nice profit on the Oaklawn afternoon. Real Quiet takes the win at Oaklawn by benefiting from a DQ in race 4. The 3-4 combo returned $26.60 for each buck and a $193 profit on the day. Eastside Cool won comfortably but lugged out twice and we'll never know if Palace Coup would have caught him. That makes me 1 and 1 on the season with one taken away and another gifted. I'll take it. As for odds and ends, I think Cal lost his bet in race 8. I am never 100% sure how certain tracks treat scratches. Roamin found a new way to lose as his jockey dropped his whip in the 5th. Might not have mattered but "ya never know" and Joly's last exacta had the right two horses but the wrong order. If nothing else Oaklawn was entertaining. Following are the unofficial results. Let me know if I should get "taken down" for my scoring. See you all next week on the Trail to the Derby. WIN... Real Quiet... +$193.60... R 4 $11 ex key 3 w 4-6-8 $26.60 X 11... $292.60 PLACE...
